I couldnt be more sad Norc- fo rme I feel like we have had a NUwho Golden Age SINCE Smith took over the role- and I think whoever follows Smith has a bigger job than Smith did following Tennant- Tennant was popular but since Smith began the show has grown dramatically.
Its more like the 5th having to follow the 4th- how do follow someone who seemed to embody the role to his very marrow?
The River Sng vid is on the second skydrive- there is sound synch problems at various scenes and not at others- its a very slight problem occasionally on the HD but converting it to non HD seems to have made it worse in places- why I have no idea. But still very watchable and a fitting 'special' for the 50th.
Those who are up to date please watch as I am very keen to hear others thoughts on the content.
You are quite right David- the show isnt afraid of change, it embraces it. But can be hard to get over still when a beloved Doctor takes his bow.

i am so sad, i know i don't have that much who background, only seen some eccleston and some tennant, and they were great, but it was smith's doctor that really did it for me. i know who is all about change and i am gonna embrace the new doctor, but i am so sad to see Smith go

well I am very glad he is going, he never convinced me. maybe the next Doctor is a woman and I shudder to think of what torture Moffat would make her go through.

I very much hope they dont make the Doctor a women- I just dont understand the need- it would just seem like change for the sake of it and to bow down to the pc lobby.
Norc- you should look on the bright side and be thankful- you got a rare evert I think- an actor who for you WAS the Doctor- first time that happened to me was 4th Doctor- that I got to experience such a a total performance again all these years later is my good fortune.
There have been good actors doing good Doctors (Tennant springs to mind) but without ever 'being' the Doctor for me.
So when one comes along that really does do that just be glad you were there to witness it happening.
And hope the next one can be anything like as good. And in th emeantime dowload and watch the River vid to console yourself with.

If previous form is anyting to go by any names that crop up in the press now wont be who gets it (Smiths name wasnt mentioned befor ehe got the role)- only 3 Doctors were aleady well known publicly before they got the role- 5th, 8th and 9th (and the alast two were relaunching the show).
