no actually Donna became a Time Lord when she was zapped by the TARDIS, she has become one part of the TARDIS and timelordery, so although she can never remember being one or it will fry her brain, she still is one technically.

No she was never full Time Lord- she was Doctor Donna, part human part Time Lord. But she didnt have her DNA rewritten or anythng to be timelord- physically she remained human which is why it was killing her.

Donna had her DNA altered to become part Time Lord, she shares his biology and memories and mental powers. therefore she is a human/Time Lord hybrid.

Stuck with a puny human brain though that burns out with the knowledge, even just remembering it will burn her brain out.
She wasnt 'made' the way Time Lords were
Spoiler:
- by exposure to the vortex altering their DNA- she just had a 'metacrisis' when some Time Lord DNA got grafted onto her- the end result being competely unstable and lethal to her.
So I wouldnt count her as Time Lord as if she actually becomes the time lord part it killls her instantly.

Yup she was the most important woman in history at the time (well probably- Rule One!), doesnt make her a Time Lord however.

Time Lords by definition are the product of long term exposure to the vortex.
Donna is not, she is more like a grafting of Time Lord onto the human, the result of a freak accident- and it didnt work (any more than Rose taking on the Heart of the TARDIS did).
The only way she can survive at all is for anything Time Lord she got to be supressed to the point of effective non existence.
Thats why her story is so tragic- the Donna the Doctor leaves behind is a shallow, vaccous person like she was before she ever met him.

"But she was better when she was with you"- Wil

Why are you so keen to see Donna as a Time Lord Mrs Figg? scratch - Im a big Donna fan, my favourite 10 companion by a very long way, but she is not a proper Time Lord by any stretch of the description. Doctor Who [5] - Page 23 3392635135

According to the TARDIS wiki-

'Davros electrocuted her. Davros' attack on Donna stimulated her brain, awakened the Time Lord DNA that transferred to her during the two-way biological meta-crisis, and gave her "the best part of the Doctor, his mind," rendering her the "DoctorDonna" of the Ood's prophecy.'

This is how I saw it too in the episode- she got his knowledge and intellect but her body did not physically transform to Time Lord- because of this her human body couldnt cope with a Time Lord mind leaving the Doctor no choice but to wipe all her memories of their interactions and make her human again to save her life.

She only got his mind- she says that in the episode-that doesnt make her Time Lord- and if he hadnt wiped her memories and essentially restored her to human before she met hm she would be dead.
Thats not a Time Lord.

Perhaps rather than staying over and over that she is a Time Lord you could explain perhaps why you think she is?

Americans seem to have a tendency when it comes to TV to ask 'what is the demograph?' US networks seem obssessed with it to the point of not commissioning a show if they cant work out what age the advertising should be aimed at- Who doesnt have a demograph- thats kind of the point of it.

That has more to do with the failings of US network television than anything about the society as a whole, though. And the notion that network TV sucks is not at all a fringe opinion.

Just watching that I get the sense that "critic and writer" Ms. Greer might just look down on children's or family entertainment, which is a different issue, but again not even close to representative of the country as a whole. Look at how successful Disney and Pixar movies are for evidence of that.

Disney and Pixar dont market their films primarily for tv- I was using American in the sense of American prevailing attitudes to tv shows and the need for advertiser to know who the audience is supposed to be (which I happen to think is silly), not Americans as a people (who of course rather than Greer's assertation that the show wouldnt travel have wonderfully taken to it in noticable numbers compared to the past proving there is hope for your nation yet Eldo. Wink )

Watched "the Time Meddler", what struck me ? 1st, the opening scene. Always liked the wibbily-wobbily zebra stripes & electronic Whoo Hoo sound ! Then we had enough, but not over the top, info, well acted, sense of eerieness, grounded in the things we already know & recognise. Attention to detail that bolstered the believability, Enjoyed the Drs sarcasm, "space helmet for a cow"! I liked watching how he deduced the situation, like a Galactic Agatha Christie. And how minimalistic it was without the gadgets ? No sonic screw driver. this Dr was calmer, in control, not flying about spewing technical jargon & Zapping & buzzing. Plus, you got a smidgeon of education, he worked out about Kings & battles of the day. And all done on probably a shoestring budget.
