With the world up almost upon us I am curious, is the 'world cup single' a phenomenon of Britain alone?
Or if against all common sense do other nations teams also put out songs to mark participation?

So what are the ones you remember, good and bad from your nation if so.

Here's two from Scotland.

1978- Off to Argentina with Ally's Tartan Army- the World Cup where Scotland learn if you go with the attitude you are just somehow going to win it you will be humbled in the first round and sent home with your tail between your legs. This song is remembered with pain and embarrassment by those who remember 1978. For that reason it makes my choice   



The lesson was well learnt by 1982, it was off to sunny Spain, and our song reflected a more realistic approach, us winning was a dream, it was also completely tongue in cheek and gets the nod for that reason alone-

Well thats an unfortunate start to the game for the hosts!   

Sorry Petty... my phone was on charge so didn't see you attempt to communicate.

Brazil didn't look great last night but wonder if that was first game pressure. Still... won me some money. Have put 50p bet on 29 matches (the others aren't open yet) for the correct score. Called 3-1 yesterday.

Yup they were lucky in the end the keeper was so poor when it mattered.
First goal he should have stopped, the penalty was really soft in the place and he should have saved it, got a full hand on it, and the he was woefully out of position and slow to get down for the third.
If Brazil had faced a better keeper they wouldnt have got a single goal! But thats football for you. And you wouldnt have won your bet.   

Goal of the tournament (so far) from Holland and Van Persie- fantastic ball in, great diving header- just as well as Spain, technically brilliant as they are, can be so boring to watch! But set up nicely for a more lively second half.

So I hop from the forum to the football prematch and I am looking at Wimbeldon.   Turns out is was a long ad for Wimbeldon but dont do that to a very drunk brain!!! Like life doesn't confuse me enough already or something!!!
