I thought you supported the Ravens Eldo not a bunch of Cowboys?  (Im never going to get my head round how this sport works  )

It's probably the cheerleaders. The Dallas cowboys are famous for having the sexiest cheerleaders in American football.

Ah I begin to see how this game works, and confirms something I have long suspected about American football- the actual game isnt that important- the cheerleaders, marching bands, patriotism, food, the half time show and waving at yourself on a jumbo screen are what count.
They should just do away with the game bit altogether to stop it getting in the way of all the other stuff.

I like both. The Cowboys thing is because my dad was a big Cowboys fan back in the '70s when he was growing up, I think largely because his family were all Pittsburgh Steelers fans and he wanted to rebel (the Cowboys and the Steelers had a rivalry of sorts back then). He stuck with the Cowboys through their bad years too, then around the time I was born they were doing really good again so we have tons of baby pictures of me with Cowboys onesies and Cowboys hats and whatnot. The first ever game I remember watching was the Cowboys vs. the Ravens back when I was five or six and I've rooted for both since. Fortunately they don't play each other very often.

I used to have other teams that I liked too and would root for unless they were playing the Cowboys or the Ravens, but I don't watch football quite as much as I used to so nowadays I don't really go out of my way to support any other teams.

Hey, I've supported the Cowboys even though they haven't won a Super Bowl since I was one year old!  They've sucked for most of my life but I still root for them.  So does my dad, actually, but he's also a Ravens fan now.

Actually, the Cowboys and the Ravens played each other late last season and we disagreed on who to support.  I said Cowboys because they have traditionally been my number one team with the Ravens at number two.  My dad said Ravens because they had a better chance of getting to the playoffs and thus could use the win more.

You're not alone in this, I get shit from some of the more hardcore Ravens fans in the family for not supporting them 100% of the time.

And quite right too.  

I suffer for my team though!  I went to a Cowboys-Redskins game in Washington (the Washington Redskins being the Cowboys' archrivals) wearing a Cowboys jersey and got beer poured on me and had a bunch of drunk rednecks in the row in front of us yelling insults at me for the entire game.  

Actually, I prefer going to Ravens games for that reason (at least Ravens home games) because the crowd there is generally well-behaved.  Last time I was there they actually had this "don't be a jerk" policy where they asked everyone to point and shame people who were being drunken assholes to get them to stop and also help security find them.
