Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
I hate it when that happens Norc I sympathize with you. a similar twattage happened to me lately. On Tuesdays nights they started showing old films, mainly Hitchcock and Agatha Christie things, we got all the B&W Miss Marples played by Margaret Rutherford, then Midnight Lace with Doris Day which is excellent, then last week we had a courtroom drama with Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton, they were BRILLIANT, and Yesterday they put on some shit by the HALLMARK Channel, the f-ing Hallmark Channel, its an insult to all Crime film lovers.

I decided to do some sleuthing of my own (which is to say, I spent 30 seconds on Wikipedia) and it turns out the series is in the middle of a three week hiatus and that the last five episodes will resume in the US in about a week before ending in May with a two-parter. Bitch.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
erm Elementary. Watson is useless, what does she actually DO? I havent actually seen her do anything yet, she stands around staring at Sherlock while he says how much she has helped him, but we dont see what she actualy did to help. The only thing she does do is follow him around with that expresssionless mask of a face and whining to her shrink, (I thought Watson was a shrink?) that she wants to stay with him. She doesnt help him solve shit.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
yes she does. also, she keeps him on track. i do prefer Freeman's John, but let's just look at Joan. I agree, it takes a really long time until we're seeing the companionship from book, as far as i can tell, it hasn't happen yet. I am at ep. 19 and now, just two-three episodes ago, she decided to stay full time as a fellow consulting detective, not being payed to be there. Also, Sherlock has begun training her, so no, she hasn't been useful to any cases yet. well, ok, gonna compare, compared to BBC where they are an instant hit and you see clearly from ep one that these two need each other in crimesolving and in life, even though they don't realise it until perhaps the great game (at least for sherlock, this can be discussed) my point is, in BBC there is a clear instant connection and need and then a steady progression, i don't really get that from elementary. i didn't say that they don't have any chemistry. it's just different. she has helped him and proved useful, but no at all at the extent John has. She helped him with some study techinces from med school for instant, but that is as much as i can think of on the top of my head.
Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
I am up to the Vinnie Jones episode, I am only watching it because its about Sherlock Holmes but for me Elementary lacks a certain magic that BBC Sherlock has, Elementary is like a grey version whereas Cumberbutch Sherlock is trippy sparkling Rainbow coloured.

Principal photography has begun today on the second episode of Sherlock Series Three.
no spoilers on Sherlockology (when the second season hadn't aired in the US but had in the rest of the world, you had to tick of a box before entering the site wether or not you'd seen it so to avoid spoilers )

Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
As previously noted, this is the first time the episodes in a series of Sherlock are being produced in episode order. Series One saw production begin with S1E3: The Great Game, followed by S1E2: The Blind Banker and S1E1: A Study in Pink, while Series Two commenced with S2E2: The Hounds of Baskerville, then S2E3: The Reichenbach Fall and S2E1: A Scandal in Belgravia.

article about Sherlock's drug habbit.
explore:
drugs used by both ADC Holmes and BBC Sherlock
the effects of cocaine on the brain,
the physiology of addiction,
how the brain motivates us and why Sherlock, in particularly, is more prone to addiction. It puts a whole new spin on the words “I need a case.”
If you ever wondered why Sherlock behaves so erratically between cases - brain biochemistry has already provided us with the answer.

According to that Study In Pink was shot last- so how come it not only was broadcast first but its the only epiosde for which there are two versions, one a pilot episode? You dont normally make a pilot after youve already shot 2 eps for broadcast.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
they made the unaired pilot, then were asked to make 90 minutes instead, they then re-did everything, leaving A Study In Pink last to be shot
Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
How unusual- but then it is the Moff no reason to assume normality!

Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
Would it be jumping the gun to say that that's confirmation that John will be getting married (or trying to) this season? I seem to recall them teasing about that possibility in the past.
Re: Sherlock - BBC [2]
- Spoiler:
- He gets married in the books so makes sense.

teasing? they hired his lifetime partner Amanda Abbington to play a character. One of the episodes are called "a sign of three" (or something like that) based on "a sign of four" where mary morstan appears.
well,... it could also be John and Sherlock getting married

Sorry for not having followed the series 3 news as close as you have, Norc. I can tell that I've disappointed you.
I could get behind a Sherlock and John wedding though. That's going to be legal in the UK soon, right?

I "have" to wait until it shows on PBS in the US, too.
