Doctor Who [4]

In an unusual move the BBC have announced the start date for the second half of season seven- something they normally dont do until a couple of weeks before broadcast.

And I suspect as part of the Moffat reboot of Who it all begins Who's traditional new series kick off date of Easter weekend- which means this year Who is back on the 30th of March.

As part of the 50th anniversary the BFI (British Film Insitute) is holding scrrenings of episodes form each of the Doctors, with a Q&A session.
The first of these has just ben held.
And to join in the 50th celebrations I thought we coudl do the same here.

So here is the Q&A from before they showed the episode, featuring the story's vision mixer Clive Doig and special sounds creator Brian Hodgson, alongside writer/actor Mark Gatiss.

It would be great if both William Russel and Carol Ann Ford are in the 50th anniversary specials.

Well I will attempt to dive into the most recent series sometime in this next week. Will let you all know my impressions!

Are you just starting out on Who Lorient or have you watched before?

(forgive my buckie memory if we've discussed it before).

I will be just starting Petty. I believe we've discussed it before but I don't remember where or when either.

Where do you plan on watching from Lorient? Start of series 7?

Is that the series that started in '05? I think it is, so yeah, that's where I'll start.

No series 7 is the current one- its split in half- the second half of it starts again in March.
There have been 5 episodes and a xmas special o it so far- 7 to go.

Series 6 would be a tricky one to start on- series 5 was when the current Doctor took over, a new Doctor is always a good place to start.

The 2005 series is series 1 (of NuWho) also a good starting point but youve 7 series to get through from there to being up to date.

I will probably start at the first of "NuWho", so the one from '05

Good choice but youll need to be dedicated to get through them all!

But I look forward to seeing what you think of it- you might want to try the link above to the first ever episode from the 1960's as well.

Just skip anything with the Ponds in it. They're terrible and ruin the show.

I just can't resist poking at Petty. He's gotten into many arguments defending Amy Pond's honor. You'll understand why when you see what she looks like.

I haven't seen anything from season one of NuWho but Tennant and Smith have both impressed me with their performances.

It goes downhill once Tennant leaves.

That the spirit Lorient- although it does mean you are letting yourself in for episodes like Fear Her.

Eldo your laxness in watching more Who has been noted you know!

Uphill Mrs Figg uphill!!- same way the writing goes once Mofatt gets the reigns and it stops trying to be a soap opera and goes back to being Who.

Dont believe a word of it Lorient- Ally is a welsh hobbit- she'd have to have been down a coal mine all this time to not have seen it- and she cant have been cause Thatcher closed them all!
