I refuse to confirm or deny anything in this conversation, including its existence, in fear of somehow ending up embroiled in it.

I fully expect now by the end of the three films to see the entire Fellowship rammed in somehow. Mad

He has absolutely no role or purpose in the story, not even in PJ's already drastically expanded version. And it'd mean another decade-older actor trying to play a significantly younger version of themselves, which is the last thing this movie needs visually. Mad

well Legolas and Frodo had no purpose but they got bunged in. at this point theres everything but the kitchen sink so they may as well have Aragorn. I am past caring really. Its going to be crap no matter what they do.

Yes, at least he is a bone fide character ! Tauriel is a made up "hannah & her 5 sisters" character ! Something for the cast/crew to salivate over, nothing for us & nothing from Tolkien ! Just another "kick" for, & from, PJ Mad

I've been skeptical of Tauriel from the beginning, but I'm okay with the principle of creating new supporting characters to flesh out settings that have relevance to the story. What I'm much less keen on is transplanting characters across hundreds of miles (and probably years of age, too) so they can appear in a totally unrelated story.

well he did live in Rivendell, so Bilbo may have met him when he was mooning around Narsil, but he was about 20 or something or maybe a kid. But he is sure more welcome than Tauriel mooning over Thranduils disco boots. Thinking about it Aragorn could be on a mish for Gandalf or summat but anyway its doubrful we will actually get to see him. mores the pity.
