Pumpkin with cranberry sauce, fried banana slices, and salted pecans is another one of my improvised meals.

Of course, would be a bit like mars bars without chocolate and caramel I imagine.

you know Frodo looked like Michael Jackson a lot. I thought he was going to do the Moonwalk down Bagend. Laughing He looked stupid in that wig. There was something really wrong about the area round his eyes and mouth. It didnt look like him, they should have done something with computers to give him a more babyfaced look. Galadriel was unrecognizable from Fellowship, her wig was crap too. I didnt mind old Bilbo and Saruman so much, although they turned him from being a tall imperious and powerful wizard in FOTR into a grumpy old doddering fart. Sad

You know what really bugs me with reviewers? When they ignorantly think that if the film is long then it must please the purists. Or, even worse, that the films are made long and split into three FOR the purists. Mad

Still haven't seen the film myself. I'm going to try and see it once my pay comes through but I'm not sure if I'll get the chance before it leaves cinemas - I'd feel pretty selfish leaving the mister (is that a term of address? I'm the missus and it seems logical but my brain is a little squished) with the little one while I'm off having fun. {{{{{Question for you married/partnered ones - how do you negotiate movie trips for one?}}}}}

By the way, we are in our new home, not homeless for Christmas. First go at cohabiting with a partner (although I've had lots of male housemates) - we managed to have all our arguments within the first 3 days (and I must say while I hate arguing I do like the making up, and wish there'd be more of it). Other than that, the house has been awash with various solids, liquids and gases of the mind-befuddling kind. Happy New Year all! cheers

how do I negotiate going alone to the cinema without Mr Figg? I just say ''oi! Mr Figg, I'm off to to see The Hobbit . Again! do you have any problems?''. and he will Rolling Eyes and say ''No dear, no problems, have a nice time''. because he knows its more than his lifes worth. Laughing Shocked

Actually Ally, your menu with cranberries and pecans and whatnot sounded quite edible. But cavier and bananas? Cheap cavier made for children? Cavier by itself is already pushing it in my book.

that's swedish i believe (had to google it) here we call it rakfisk. basically the same thing. No I haven't had it. maybe one day.I heard this story. I think he was norwegian but I am not sure, but anyways, he lived in brittain or whatever, and he was going to make that. And you basically let your fish rot and then cook it (I am not sure) or eat it raw. But neighbours smellt it, as it has a rather distinctive rotten smell, and yeah... the police were called in because they thought he had murdered someone. I think it was rakfisk, not sure. probably.

so maybe not.

have you tried dried fish? or smoked salmon, røykalaks? or gravlaks (salmon burried in salt and herbs for like.. forever)? mmmm....

lutefisk not so much. blæh.

I've had breakfast in a Norwegian hostel and there was definitely a sort of pickled fish but I don't know what is was called.

It was very good, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't rakfisk.
