Re: Star Wars
Well given the complete destruction he committed on Gene Rodenberry's vision I dont why anyone would expect him to do anything less to SW.

Re: Star Wars
I honestly have no strong feelings on this one way or another, the film will probably be an entertaing but utterly pointless overblown plot hole strewn mess either way, and seeing the original three in all their craggy withered glory couldn't really make it much worse, in fact it's possibly the only thing I'm actually intrigued/excited about-how did Luke Skywalker get so fat and creepy? Does Han Solo still own the one shirt?
You never know we might end up getting a few decent Family Guy parodies at least...

What I really want is Shadows Of The Empire and Rogue Squadron remakes.

I'd just like to be able to play Dark Forces and Jedi Knight on my Mac without having to go through Bootcamp or something like that. Is that too much to ask for?

Re: Star Wars
No Nora. These films will, in all liklihood, turn out to be shite. I think he needs to pick and choose his films now.
Re: Star Wars
I'm already disappointed that JJ Abrams is directing. The last thing we need is yet more parallels to nuTrek.
I got in trouble for saying that after seeing DOS.

(i honestly see ur points though i think osage county is great thoguh, looking forward to that one)
Re: Star Wars
Well Eldo, I dont think we are questioning his acting credentials but you can only be as good as the pages you are paid to act out and eventually you become known for that.
Seems Norclet understands anyway so we all good.
Re Abrahms... I wonder if Disney will give him as much license as he got with ST. Could imagine it to turn out very... corporate inspired.

Re: Star Wars
Disney has been extremely hands-off with regards to Marvel and Pixar. I think that if any corporate meddling is going to ruin the sequel trilogy, it will be from people at Lucasfilm. Although I don't really have much faith in Abrams' ability to deliver a great Star Wars film even if he was given completely free reign.
Re: Star Wars
But Abrams is a fan of S.W at least, I never felt like he cared for Star Treks-so even if EP 7 is shite, at least it should have some heart to it.
Personally I would have chosen Edgar Wright, Joe Johnston or Joss Whedon as director.

Re: Star Wars
Fair point, though fans often don't know what they really want/what is actually good. :/ When I had only seen the first ST movie I was more optimistic about the prospects for Abrams with this film, but STID was terrible. Let's hope it was just Abrams phoning it in because he was eager to get on to the series he actually cared about.
Re: Star Wars
Star Thwack: Into Boredom was a bit of a mess yeah, I didn't even care enough to hate it, dosen't bode well.
Oh well, at least Jar Jar isn't in it...or is he? *shudders*

Abrams will probably take a big dump all over everything too. I don't see how anyone can have "faith" that these will be good movies.

Re: Star Wars
Wasn't the fact that Cumberbatch might be in negotiations to star in Star Wars already alluded too?

Whole Star Wars bit:

Wouldn't really be a big surprise, as he already worked with Abrahams on Star Trek.

Re: Star Wars
If they want this to be a success, all that needs to happen is a trailer showing Jar Jar bunks close to being grotesquely killed and then cutting off so that people have to go to see it.
I would pay premium prices for that!!

Re: Star Wars
Two clips from Black Angel- nothing to do with SW save that it was specially made for the original European release of SW, when it was still common in Europe for there to be a short before the main feature.
Thought lost ever since it recently resurfaced.
You might recognise the location from pics Ive put up in the past as it was shot about 6 miles from here on Lock Eck, and Ive put quite a lot of pics of Loch Eck up from when Nagual lived there.
