What kind of name is Alfrid? For TH, I mean. And I hope he doesn't take the place of anyone actually IMPORTANT!

As far as I can recall there aren't a lot of named - much less important - characters from Lake-town, so I suspect this is more an addition than a replacement.

Martin Freeman won a Best Supporting BAFTA for his role as Watson in Sherlock. But thats not the news. The news is he let slip this about his Sherlock co-star;

'Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has landed a role in The Hobbit, his Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman says.
Freeman let the news slip backstage at the Bafta TV awards on Sunday, where Sherlock picked up the prize for best drama series.
Freeman plays Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's two-part fantasy film, due out in 2012-13.
Asked about his role, Cumberbatch remained tight-lipped: "I can't say at the moment, thank you very much."
Freeman said later: "I knew I was a sort of a big mouth but I didn't realise to what extent I was a big mouth, and I've just ruined everything.
"I might not actually go back to a job - they might have just sacked me."

So who is he playing?

well just to keep you all up with the play, there was an explosion at the studios a day or so ago. Two workers were hurt. It is just as well they are taking a break in a couple of weeks as there will be an investigation pending.

It definetly wasn't me. I wasn't there, I certainly havent just returned form NZ or visited any munitions dumps in the area or went anywhere near the studios blind drunk on buckie and blew anything up. Certainly not. How dare you even think it! (And I know some of you were!).

umm.... I hope that wasn't me when I was on my whole "Queen" rant, because I just want the darn film to get started and be finished! With as much charisma and care as LOTR was made. You can't deny that PJ and coven didn't give it their all, even if their all wasn't what we liked.

I'm pretty sure that Petty can deny anything when it comes to PJ.

Not sure its available in all regions but basically sums up as; 'He says Freeman was 'born to play Bilbo Baggins.' Says his role is playing someone who is pompous, corrupt and middle-age. Between Mayor Quimby in the Simpsons and Adam West in Family Guy.'

Here's a pic of the actor playing Azog (why Azog Peter? Why?!) with PJ, whom he dwarves (pun intended). His name is Conan Stevens and he is apprently 7ft tall and weighs 320lbs (as a Colonial Brit I have no idea what this in in real weight ie stones). And Conan? His parents must have known he was going to end up 7ft!

We should have a pretty impressive looking Azog, now. Though why they couldn't have just called him Bolg is beyond me.

I wonder which poor stunt guy is gonna have to fight him. Just touching the guy will give you a bruise!!!!

They should've cast him as Beorn instead, looks very Beorn'ish to me. Orcs can be CGI'd.
