You can tell jokes about Americans or Norwegians all you want (though like blonde jokes you may have to explain them to us), but some topics will be a bit too touchy to the larger world - Halfwise

who's says there is anything to joke about Norwegians? and who says I'm not offended?

seriously though, those jokes weren't too bad, although I can see some being offended. I mean, not all muslims have the same look on things (obiously, just like every other religion) so what your friend thoguht funny, may not be the case for everyone

but probably a good idea to delete it.. but when making jokes, the stereotypes do get the most puns, not that I'm saying it should stay like that or the other way or anything, it's just the way it is.. just saying

Ive deleted offensive material, Funny thing is (for me) that Ive got several friends, all different skin colour, all different religions, & come from different countries, & we all make jokes about each other, but NOT in a nasty way ! its all in fun. Maybe Im just lucky who my pals are ?! Last night my Iranian friend, (who I met as 2 mums taking our kids to school years ago,) were joking about the latest scare over Tesco being accused of putting horse meat in beef burgers. We both "told" each other what each country puts in THEIR beef burgers, I said she would put Camels, she said Id put dog, & it got sillier & sillier, but we ended up laughing & no one minded.

In private it's all good. I have Muslim and Iranian friends too (don't make the mistake of calling them Arabs!) and anything goes. But then you see the same things in public and you get protective.

Ahh I missed the jokes so now I dont know if they were offensive or not?!

On general princilples I am in favour of making jokes about everyone and everything.
Not being able to take a joke about your nationality or beliefs is a bad sign in my book.
In fact probably means you are from one of those nations who only have one book- religous or political. A wise man once said never trust a nation that only has one book.

A good joke can work anywhere-

and you said you didnt like Bernard Manning? on the whole I agree, if the joke is genuinely funny and not nasty. The best jokes are never those that are evil, but the ones with an element of truth. the ones that make you laugh with pleasure not cringe with horror.

Manning crossed into nasty for me, it was not a joke between friends it was singling out to laugh at for villification, thats how it always came across to me Mrs Figgs.
