That I can deal with! But now they have action figures for him and Ginger-elf a year too early!And I've noticed with all of the extra endings that PJ has mistaken the light tone of the hobbit as idiotic, anachronistic humor. Gollum telling himself to shut up? Really? And the stone troll falling on the dwarves randomly at the end? WHY?
I have a bet with a friend that Sauron will end up fighting in 5 armies, just because that's the way things seem to be headed!

That thing at the end Tin may in fact be the Goblin King - not sure thats any better however.
And I agree with you about the feel of the tone- it certainly has a feel and tone- I just dont 'feel' it as anything like the book tone.

What was up with that thing at the end? Aside from what it was, what is going on in that scene? Why are the dwarves in that shelter? Why was it falling through the air? Do you think, they might be with the eagles when this happens?

The set looks like part of the goblin city sets to me.
How or why the goblin king ends up falling on them goodness only knows but the punchline- the king falling on them, at least I think it is the king as its wearing a crown and we have had hints he was going to be big and fat- implies this scene immediately follows on from an over the top action sequence of some sort resulting in the dwarves ending up where they are - hence the "That could have been worse" line or whatever rubbish it was.

So it seems as though the first movie is going to be one big joke with Bilbo at the center of all of it, the second movie is going to be suddenly serious, and the third is going to be a prequel (both in likeness and the story itself) to LOTR.
