Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
The Goblin King is a huge, grotesquely bloated monster that in the years of his tyrannical rule over the miserable inhabitants of the Goblin town grew fat and flabby. The Goblin town is a collection of skew-whiff ramshackle huts deep in the caves of the Misty Mountains. He commands a bunch of foul, polluted, with scars and ulcers studded goblins.
Basically, they are bandits, they live by what they can pick up from passengers on the passes through the mountains. The Goblin King and his followers manage to capture Bilbo and the dwarves. The Goblin King is more wily and smarter than it seems. He takes pleasure in torturing his prisoners — he almost succeeds to finish off Thorin Oakenshield and his companions.

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
Hey, they actually included a bit of trivia from the book! "The bigger the beard, the more impressive the Dwarf."
I wonder what that says about Richard Armitage's Thorin. Short beard = short d...?
Edit: lol I need to go to sleep

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
'Thorin wears the key around his neck at all times'- bit Ringish- and I wonder if that means he will have the key from the start too. I suspect so.

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
quote from torn:
Description:
“Legolas is the Prince of the Woodland Realm and a high elf like his father Thranduil. However, you meet him rarely at the royal court — much rather he patrols the area with the forest guards of the Wood-elves. The large and slim versed fighter is absolutely loyal to his father and his people. But the events of the outside world by now leave traces in the isolated world of the Wood-elves. Because he sees the disaster coming, Legolas faces the choice to follow either his father or his conscience.”
edit: more
The suggestion that Legolas breaks from his father could indicate one of two things: either he helps the dwarves in their escape from the Wood-elves kingdom, or it is he not Thranduil who leads the Wood-elves to the Lonely Mountain. The quote suggests the latter, as it notes ‘but the events in the outside world by now leave traces in the isolated world of the Wood-elves’. Releasing the dwarves has little relevance to ‘events in the outside world’. But leading an army to the Lonely Mountain would of course be in response to such events

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
Actually leading the elves to the Lonely Mountain is portrayed as something of an act of greed in the book. I suspect they'll have Legolas take the high road and argue with his father about this. Can't have a morally flawed hero running about, too complicated.

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
I think Legolas would be totally against the war, and therefore against his father on principle. Legolas has to remain a sympathetic character for LOTR continuity. Although loyal in most instances, I think on the going to the mountain he would not approve of it. If they say wider concerns, I take that to mean stuff about the Necromancer, maybe his fatheris not concerned but Legolas is worried, maybe he seeks the advice of the WC, being a prince of Mirkwood. maybe they have had trouble with wargs and orcs on the outer borders of Mirkwood as he is on patrol like a Ranger in effect.

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
I suspect all that is happening here is the script writing 101 book is back out and Leggy needs a character arc to go on - and bugger me if it isnt the old opposing the father theme trotted out again. Aragorn/Elrond, Faramir/Denethor, Arwen/Elrond, Eowyn/Theoden.
I dont think we need to watch it again with Legolas do we?
I'd rather be watching Bilbo and the dwarves myself.

I want to see as much Lego/Thranduil as possible, and if they fight half naked, even better.

And all this time you've been complaining about Tauriel. Hypocrite.
How about if we compromise and have Legolas and Tauriel fight half naked?
And then maybe form some wet clay into a pot together on a potter's wheel.
Then she'll blow him off via the "I'll have what she's having" scene from When Harry met Sally.
This could be a great movie!

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
I dont think so, well known over here- although thats the shortened form of course- that might be a lazy Americnaism making it shorter.
