I think there's a worthwhile Forumshire Tale in this idea. But who would write it?
Re: Doctor Who [3]
yes, go on. someone write it. I'm totally ready for it. Bring it on. I have my cup of tea ready.
Re: Doctor Who [3]
Actually I was thinking of ideas for what I could write about that last night. It got a bit surreal though and I can't promise everyone would appreciate the humor...
Re: Doctor Who [3]
do it just do it !! for the needle hole or something on it's own? though, please write, whatever you came up with ^^
Re: Doctor Who [3]
I haven't been doing a lot of writing in general lately but I'm trying to get back into it. This would be separate from Needlehole though, and rather different in tone.
I'll try to do some writing this evening.

Re: Doctor Who [3]
Villians (inorder of appearence)
The abilities of a Dalek and its casing depend greatly upon where in time a Dalek is from, with the earliest models having serious restrictions whilst later models are entirely autonomous and not limited by very much.
Daleks were bred to be heirachical, they follow orders without question and will always follow the Dalek chain of command, but often requiring the correct protocols before they will act.
The Dalek creature itself has one over enlarged eye and one eye so small it is often hard to spot. They have several tentacles by which they can manipualte the instruments within their casing. They communicate across a psychic network as well as by audio and a variety of transmission types.
They were genetically altered by their creator Davros to have no compassion or pity, no weaknesses or frailities as their inventor saw it, and to despise all other forms of life that are not pure Dalek.
This extends to their own, mutations that alter Dalek DNA or get infections are exterminated, assuming the infected Dalek does not self destruct out of self loathing.
On encountering other races Daleks will ideally kill every last one of them. However they are also known for enslaving enitre populations but the purpose of this enslavement is not power or control but just the means to fulfill the next stage of exterminations. Once the slave population has fulfilled its task they too will all be exterminated and the Daleks will move on to the next race.
Because of this all attempts to reason with Daleks fail- as they want and believe in nothing save for your death.
Daleks and the Doctor-Part One
Major developments 1st to 4th Doctor
The Doctor first encountered the Daleks in his first incarnation when he found himself on Skaro, the Dalek homeworld.
At this point in Skaro's history its civil war and Davros, the Daleks creator, were long since past- most of the planet was devasted and the region around its once main cities were heavy with radiation and mutations from the centuries long wars and its forest were pertirfied.
Skaro had two humoniod indigenous races- the Kaleds and the Thalls. And they hated each other which eventually led to a war without seeming end.
When the Doctor first arrived the surving Thalls had become peace loving agriculturalists and had forgotten most of their former knowledge.
The Kaleds on the other hand had survived beneath their ruined city as Daleks, where they had been trapped by the actions of the Doctor in his 3rd incarnation- the future still for the
Doctor at his first encounter with them, but an event in the past for the Daleks. The Doctor thwarted the Daleks in this first encounter by cutting their power, as these Daleks were powered by static electricity which they got through the city floors.
But the defeat was only temporary. Davros had not only gentically maipulated his Daleks to lack pity and compassion, he had also ensured they were scientific geniuses on a par with himself. So it did not take the Daleks long to construct their own time machine to go in pursuit of the Doctor.
Although they ultimatly failed to kill the Doctor the Daleks ability to travel in time changed everything and set up the possibility of the Time War.
The next time the Doctor encountered the Daleks he was still in his first incarnation. A stop in London 2194AD led to the discovery of a conquered Earth under the control of the Daleks.
They no longer required staic electricty to power their casing and had a dish attachment which drew power from other sources giving them greater mobility.
With the help of the Doctor the Daleks were destroyed and Earth was freed.
The Doctors next encounter with the Daleks was not a happy one as amongst other things it resulted in the burning of an entire planet and the death of one of his companions Katarina.
Shortly after this he met them again- this time they captured his companions in order to force him to isolate the 'human factor'- humans have an inbuilt ability to resist which the Daleks covet- they want to create a race of 'super-Daleks' combing the elements of humanity they want with Dalek. The Doctor succeeds and learns that in doing so the Daleks have what they really wanted - 'Dalek factor'- with the aim of implanting it in humans and converting
them to Dalek minds. This is the process which allows for the Dalek slaves such as the Robomen and Dalek-humaniods.
With a bit of trickery the Doctor succeeds in switching the process round so Daleks become infected with the Human factor and turn on the Emperor Dalek, starting a Dalek civil war which the Doctor, wrongly, believes will finish them off by them killing each other.
The war between the humaised Daleks and the pure Dalesk lasted some time and the Doctor does not encounter the Daleks again until well into his third regenration. By which time the pure Daleks have wiped out the humanised ones.
In his fourth incarnation the Doctor once more found himself on Skaro, but not by choice, he was sent there by the High Council of Gallifrey to find a means to either prevent the creation of the Daleks every hapenning, or to hamper their development or alter it so they turned out differently.
The Doctors actions at this early point in Skaro's history is the First act in the Time War, as when the Daleks eventually worked out who had sent the Doctor they declared war on the Time Lords.
It was in his fourth incarnation that he first encountered Davros, the creator of the Daleks.
However Davros was killed by his own creation for not being pure enough, although they preserved his body and later brought him back from the dead when they decided they needed him.
The Doctor could not bring himself to carry out the High Councils orders and wipe out an entire race, judging he should not have that power. HOwever his actions did lead to a hamperingin Dalek progress and he left them buried under their city. It set them back thousands of years until when they did finally emerge it would be to encounter the Doctor again, in his first incarnation.
Favourite Dalek lines 1st -4th Doctor period:
"Your legs are paralyzed. You will recover shortly, unless you force us to use our weapons again. In that case, the condition will be permanent."
"They are to be made to believe that they are in a safe environment."
"The only interest we have in the Thals is their total extermination!"
"Rebels of London! This is our last warning! Our final offer! Show yourselves in the open streets. You will be fed and watered, but work is needed from you. The Daleks offer you life!"
"They cannot escape! At this moment they are being hunted down! They will be destroyed!"
"No power in the universe can stop the Daleks!"
"You make your incompetence sound like an achievement!"
"We are better... different than human beings."
"Why do human beings kill human beings?"
"Exterminate, annihilate, DESTROY!!!"
"Daleks conquer and destroy!!! Daleks conquer and destroy!!! Daleks conquer and destroy!!!
Daleks conquer and destroy!!!"
"There is only one form of life that matters: Dalek life."
"Do not dispute with the Daleks! Obey without question!"
"Whoever is operating the time machine is the enemy of the Daleks! All enemies of the Daleks must be destroyed! Exterminate them!"
"No one can withstand the power of the Daleks!"
"Satisfactory. The Supreme council has ordered our army to be activated immediatley. The invasion of all solar planets is to begin today!"
"The action of the aliens has caused considerable disruption of operations on this planet."
"The responsibility was yours! You have failed! The Supreme Council does not accept failure!"
"The power failure is temporary. Superior Dalek technology will overcome interference shortly. Meanwhile you will obey our orders!"
Davros: Ours is the victory, Nyder. They talk of democracy, freedom, fairness. Those are the creeds of cowards. The ones who would listen to a thousand opinions and try to satisfy them all. Achievement comes through absolute power, and power through strength!
Davros: To hold in my hand, a capsule that contains such power... To know that life and death on such a scale was my choice... To know that the tiny pressure of my thumb - enough to break the glass - would end everything... Yes! I would do it! That power would set me up above the gods! And through the Daleks, I SHALL HAVE THAT POWER!
Davros: Today the Kaled race is ended, consumed in a fire of war but, from its ashes will rise a new race: the supreme creature, the ultimate conquerer of the universe, the DALEK!!!
"Our programming does not permit us to acknowledge that any creature is superior to the Daleks!"
"We are programmed to survive! We have the ability to develop in any way necessary to ensure that survival!"
"All inferior creatures are to be considered the enemy of the Daleks, and destroyed!"
"We are entombed but we live on. This is only the beginning. We will prepare, we will grow stronger. When the time is right we will emerge and take our rightful place as the supreme power of the universe!"
The Daleks.
What is a Dalek?
A Dalek is a cyborg. It is a living creature, the mutated remains of a once humanoid species welded to an outer casing. The Dalek casing provides defensive and attack capabilities, as well providing its occupant with sensory, tactical information and supplying its life support systems and nutrients. What is a Dalek?
The abilities of a Dalek and its casing depend greatly upon where in time a Dalek is from, with the earliest models having serious restrictions whilst later models are entirely autonomous and not limited by very much.

A Time Lord with blood on his hands and a stain or two on his soul-
death tends to follow the Doctor around and here is the proof- and this
only covers 9 and 10, I shudder to think what the total for all 11 must
be- but its in the billions!

Start filming Neil Cross's latest Doctor Who ep tomorrow. Gonna be a ride!!!" Filming is due to continue until the 6th November on the episode, which appears to be set in the early 1980s.

An improvised show inspired by Doctor Who is taking to the stage in Melbourne from tomorrow for a seven-date weekly run.

with members of The Impro Box. Made up on the spot, it will centre on a
fan presenting an audience-suggested adventure about the Doctor.

Re: Doctor Who [3]
I wasn't sure what to expect but I actually really enjoyed it. It's very well done.
Re: Doctor Who [3]
Suprisingly good!
Latest Who news!
"This week saw the read-through for episode twelve, written by Neil Gaiman. Matt Smith praised Gaiman's script; "It's very different, but again I think it will be a fan's favourite because, well, without giving anything away, it just will be, because there's something in it. Neil's brilliant ideas will always add a level to Doctor Who, which will be interesting."
Meanwhile, Rachael Striling talked about her recent filming experience in Doctor Who with her mother, Dame Diana Rigg: "We filmed Doctor Who in the summer, which was amazing. It's a juggernaut, I got to see all sorts of secret things I can't tell you about or I'll have to shoot you! Working with my mum was funny - I think it was a good experience for both of us, we really loved it; I was very proud of her and she said likewise, and that something we'll always remember. Working with Matt was gorgeous, he's brilliant, he's got that wonderful energy, I think he's a really admirable, brilliant man!".
Matt on the Christmas Special- "I can say it's set in Victorian England, we meet a Doctor who's been profoundly changed by the experiences before from losing the Ponds ... and into his life walks Jenna-Louise Coleman's character and off they go on new adventures!".
Talking about the series in general, he said: "I think that the Doctor is the same character fundamentally, that's why we tune in to watch the show, because there's a mad man who turns up and saves the universe with a ball of string and a toaster, and that's kind of it. That's why it's been going for fifty years - at its core and its heart beat that's what it's about. Of course it is going to evolve with CGI and now you get a bit more culture perhaps - but then is it more cultured, I don't know? I think sometimes there can be too much CG and 3D and all that sort of stuff can get a bit overwhelming. Hopefully you can be a bit more inventive with the stories and actually go and create space, or you can go back to Victorian England in a way that 40/50 years ago was more difficult to do."
Looking to next year Matt Smith said: "We're very fortunate to have Mr Steven Moffat, who's a complete genius, he really is. I've just read episode one of the next seaaon and you think ... and there're some brilliant ideas in it, there's a moment in it which involves wheels - that is an exclusive, an actual honest exclusive! - and when you watch it you'll go ahhh. It's him, being brilliant."
Peter Davison (5th Doctor) talks about the 50th Anniversary: "Every day I check the phone to see if Steven Moffat has called me! I don't know what’s happening next year, I have nothing to report. I'm sure it will be something fantastic! But I don't know what. I think if [the classic Doctors] aren't invited, I'm going to make my own rival video. I'll do my own 50th anniversary special."
And just for good measure just finished rendering out my latest Who pic, went for something a bit different this time.
