One day while playing plastic animals with my brother we broke the leg off a zebra. We put on a cast of masking tape and waited for it to heal. Days later we took off the cast and saw that nothing had happened. Nothing since has compared to that painful loss of innocence.

My joy was a Go-Kart we made out of old "silver Cross" pram wheels & scraps of wood. Then books came high on my list along side music !

I wasnt interested in dolls, I was too busy searching the woods for fairies. I used to make cups out of acorns and leave them on leaves for the fairies to drink. I also spend hours hiding at the top of Rhodendrum bushes watching gnomes walk past.

Down here we have magic zebras, Halfy, and when we cut their legs off with razor blades, they always grow back.

David, Im seeing an unnerving psychological pattern here, your unusual fettish with innocent vegetables, when exactly did you feel the need to manipulate them ? did you stay longer after school,hovering round the science labs ? were you seen,at the dead of night, scuttling round peoples allotments,clothed in black,armed with fertiliser that glows in the dark, & a scalpal ? & does your washing powder remove the stains of, unsuspecting veggies, better than the leading powder? WHERE DID YOU HIDE THE PEELINGS ?

We called those boggies- used to spend many a happy day on the scrap heap hunting for old silver cross prams- they have the best wheels.
