Warner Bros. confirms that there WILL be an EXTENDED EDITION of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (and presumably the next two films as well). PJ really wasn't kidding when he said that he sucks at making short movies.

So basically this guarantees that there will ultimately be at least 10 hours of movie based on The Hobbit, which is about 300 pages, and the LOTR Appendices, of which less than 10 pages are relevant to Smaug, Erebor, and The White Council.

On page 126 of the appendicies it says 'and.' Xavier, the black elf from Valinor and now unentombed nazgul says 'and' in a scary voice in one sceen. Not sure what all the commotion is about really.

I'm curious to see how PJ and Weta will visualize the rich discussion of consonants in Appendix E. I suspect much of that might be transplanted into the narrative in order to give Elrond more genuinely Tolkienian dialogue.

Anyway, TORn is reporting that tickets are on sale in Norway and will be on sale in the US November 7. Also, it appears that the running time for the first film is (tentatively) 2 hours and 44 minutes. For comparison, the theatrical cut of FOTR was 2:58.
