{{ Farewell to a good friend of mine, and partner to one of my best friends who passed away this afternoon at the far too young age of 49. I will miss her very much and all my thoughts are with her loved ones and family. It breaks my heart to know she is gone. A wonderful, seemingly indomitable woman with a wicked sense of humour and a heart as big as the world. She will be sorely missed by many. Rest in peace. }}

There is no rhyme nor reason to death - it takes the least expected and the least deserving as easily as those we'd miss less.  I've lost friends that turned me into a walking zombie for weeks, twice in one year not so far back.  It's hard Petty  Sad , but we have no choice but to soldier on.

Just saw a tribute to Prince Phillip on public TV - it was the first time I've seen extended footage of the young Elizabeth. She was quite a delightful young thing, wasn't she? Not beautiful in any classic sense, but radiating joy. I can see why Britain took her to heart over the years.

Rather sad how the second born get almost shunted out of existence. We only know Harry because of the tragedy of Diana; otherwise he'd have been largely ignored.

It must be odd knowing the main reaosn you exist at all is only incase a spare is needed.
Like having to do years of apprenticeship for a job your probably never going to get.}}

Maybe thats why they play up ? knowing they are legally "spares". Tho I feel the queen loved all her children & she with Philiip wanted a family life even tho it would have been darn site more unusual than ours ! I heard on the radio yesterday from Philiip himself saying he had mellowed as he got older Smile meaning he didnt put his foot in it these days Smile I liked him, I liked that he must have thought "I cant be doing with this, just say it !". He might have got cheesed off with the sugary sweet "yes sir no sir" attitude ?? He was Englands Prince & Id like to see Englands funeral for him. meaning that Madam Markle can stay in the USA please. She has been given far more of the Limelight thans shes entitled to & I think where she is concerened enoughs enough !

Thank goodness William is the sensible older one, like Elizabeth was the sensible older one. Harry would have done an Edward and Wallis Simpson. Well, he already has, history repeating itself. Edward had the same kind of self pitying bitterness that Harry is showing after he left the royal family, and he regretted it.
As for Prince Philip, he is one of the only royals that I actually admire and respect, as he devoted 70 years to his country. Just got on with it without whinging.

You probably have never heard of Franco Battiato, but he died today and he is a famous old school Italian singer. In this song he talks about overcoming mental illness, he says he wants to protect everyone from harm. The words are very moving.

{{{ RIP and a tearful farewell to my oldest cat Kiera who sadly was put down today. I lost track of her exact age but it was somewhere between 17-19. And up till a few months ago had never been seriously ill, but sadly age caught up with her. The vets were kind, and despite normally having to wait outside for covid restrictions they let me be present and sit with her.
That cat saw me through a lot, always knew when to cheer me up and when to pick me up. I'll miss her.

She was of course a scottish cat and therefore had her morning after the night before look, tempered with her crabbit if you even think of trying to move me Im going to claw your face off look-

RIP - Page 27 000172

and her flat out after chasing nothing at all around the room a hundred times at increasing speeds look-

RIP - Page 27 IMG-2455

and of course being my cat, her crabbit stare-

RIP - Page 27 DSC-0230-3

She was a good companion in life and I am grateful for having had her company.}}

{{ Farewell comedian and regular panel guest on many comedy panel shows Sean Lock, at only 58. I was particularly a fan of 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown and his quick wit and improv skills will be missed. }}

He led a good long life.

I myself am not sure I want to live to 91. Though just a couple days ago I met a very spry and active 80 year old, but he was still working, never retired. That's the key, and I wonder if it's worth the trade-off.

Anne Rice died a few days ago. She was 80 or so.

I really enjoyed some of her vampire novels: in particular the way that she traced the history of her vampire characters from their mortal beginnings onward.
