Re: RIP
Im putting this here even tho this person died a long time ago. This week Ive watched the tale of King Richard 111. He was our last Plantagenet King to die fighting for his cause, for what he believed in. He was young when he was killed, only 32. I have 2 daughters older than that. A lot of drama surrounds Richard, namely that he was a child murderer. It is said he imprisoned his 2 very young nephews in the Tower of London & in secret, murdered them to keep hold of the throne. I dont myself believe this story one bit. If the 2 lads were not quietly smuggled out of the country then someone killed those boys behind Richards back. I watched the possession on sunday of King Richards bones coming from Leicester Uni to the Cathedral & then this morning, I watched the Cathedral service as King Richard was laid to rest inside Leicester Cathedral. It was VERY moving & I did feel emotion on this. Whatever one believes about Richard, he was shown great respect & solemnity this morning.
And for Norc.. Bendybum Cumalongsnatch read a moving poem inside the Cathedral, he was respectful & looked very smart & sombre. Also, it seems he shares a family line ! an ancestry to Richard !
Im sure lots of people can find a Royal ancestor in their family tree ? Considering all the muffing & secret affairs that went on ! My own family tree goes back to Anne Boleyn. Im glad Ive watched these 2 special days. It was very poignant. The Last Plantagenet King.

Re: RIP
Anne Boleyn! wow that's interesting stuff, I love the strange coincidences in this story about Richard, but I personally think he was probably a rotter, but only because those times were pretty difficult to survive otherwise. I understand that all rulers 500 years ago killed people. heck we don't demonize Henry for murdering two innocent wives, having people bumped off was the norm.

Re: RIP
I agree about those scarey times ! I think it must have been kill or be killed What makes me wonder about Richard is, he brought in laws, like innocent before guilt & bail so you didnt have to sit in shit in some awful cell. And, it was reported that he & Anne were driven half mad when their son died, so, I feel that I dont want to believe the murder story, but we will never know the truth, will we ? Be nice if something popped up to shed more light on the story.
My family line goes thru the Butlers, Howards & Bullens aka Boleyn.

Re: RIP
I managed to see him in concert at his eponymous venue in Times Square before he died. It wasn't the kind of performance that would knock you back in your seat (the guy was in his 80's), but every note was perfectly placed. I'm glad I saw him, though it cost me a buttload. Was seated with a wealthy Brazilian family who made the trip in large part for the concert. That added a lot.

Mmmmm, just heard about that from The News. God, that must have been one sickening accident if they were flung out of the car ?

Re: RIP
Man, I remember seeing him on the news just last month. And he was only 55? Very sad.
The Guardian has a great obituary of him up.

That's a shame. Always loved him on Have I got News for You.
He seemed a decent man, which seems rare in politics.

Well dead at 55 from alcoholism- don't get a much more Scottish death than that outside of falling into a giant shortbread maker whilst playing Scotland the Brave on the pipes.
