Re: RIP
Sounds quite complicated and difficult actually!David H wrote:I'm skeptical.
It looks more like they started with a retouched photo, then painted over it in sections, ending with a white canvas. Then they cut it up and edited it all back together in mostly reverse order. That would be the easy way to do it, I think.
Anyway, I'm not a big fan of celebrity artists. (Artists who paint or draw celebrities, that is.) It's sort of gimmicky and uninspired. Copying down from a photograph.
{{{I guess that's not quite fair of me. My sister does watercolours of all her favourite actor crushes and I like those quite a lot. Still, it's watercolour, it feels cooler than a colour-pencil.}}}
{{{And I suppose Norc makes those nice stalker-sketches of Benedict...}}}

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

Re: RIP
first an outline is drawn, then you see the layers go on. though done section by section they are next to each other, and with the outline as a guide I think it can be done. Because of the layers, they couldn't have been painting white over a photo.

BTW, back on Robin Williams, I noticed in the Reddit page that he considered Foundation to be his favorite book, and Hari Seldon his favorite character. Unexpected and cool. I wouldn't have guessed that, but going back and looking at how much science fiction he did, I can see it.

For somebody who basically only did one character, he was a huge chunk of cultural identity. He basically owned an archetype.

Something incongruous, knowing you are trundling through South America, yet can still comment on Spock.

Re: RIP
Looks weird seeing those dates under them, the picture is so sci-fi & futuristic.

Never got around to reading any of his books, but it's always a shame when we lose someone that had such a positive impact on others.

Re: RIP
A belated RIP for Rod Taylor who passed away on January 7th of this year at the age of 84. He was the star of the 1960 adaptation of HG Wells' The Time Machine, and had a guest appearance in one of my favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone. I'm surprised I didn't hear about this earlier.
