Just read the news- hugely sadened- a large part f the ocmedy I grew up watchng came from him and the alternative comedians of that period.
Only 59 too and not even Scottish!
I did like Ade Edmondsons tribute to him though, very fitting for their style of humour-

Yeah still really sad about this British comedy performing and writing just became a lot safer, duller and less inventive again with his loss.
The BBC had some of his most famous scenes and characters, a few of my favourites from their list-

Its a shame, but, he lived to a great age. The last time I saw him was in a film with Cameron Diaz & Kate winslet called "The Holiday" He was still sharp then & he must have been getting on.

He was great, very funny but could also do serious. Just look at Good Will Hunting or Dead Poet's Society. Mrs. Doubtfire was, and is still, fucking hilarious.

I heard about the Robin Williams news at dinner from my step-brother. Totally blindsided by it; he was not a celebrity who I expected to die anytime soon. I watched Mrs Doubtfire a lot when I was young, but my favorite of his roles was Good Will Hunting, which I first saw only a couple of years ago but already adore.
