The cellars being, slowly, refilled, I'm on half rations here!
And I daresay a suitable palace and cellars can be found, and of course your swan ship.

Re: Forumshire-the animation
birch. Wrong trees. it must be birch. lots and lots of it. No pine trees. they are not naturally found in fjordlandia. It's better, but you can go even steeper and taller the mountains in the background are looking good, good coverage of snow the snow on the nearest one looks like it came the same day, we have lots of snow that stays all year, maybe some glaciers?
Re: Forumshire-the animation
Well, I think it looks good, but I'm not a Fjordlandian so I'm not sure my opinion counts.
Re: Forumshire-the animation
But they're called Norwegan Spruce! You must get them- and there's some in the pics you put up.
The snow is decided by altitude, oddly the levels foreground and background are the same, its just you can see a lot more of the foreground mountain so it looks a lot less, if you see what I mean. I can easily bring it further down, or cover it all it in snow easy enough.
Very early attempt at Ozhobbistan. Not actually sure if they have cactus there, but until I can be arsed doing some actual research they will have to do as placeholders. The trees are eucilyptus.

yes, more snow! yes, there are pine trees, but they are not so many. and not in that terrain, more common with leaves and such. Where I am from there is no pine trees naturally if they aren't planted there and it looks terrible. I'de go with birch. the trees you'de find would be:
north birch, aspen, willow, beech, pine (to some degree, but I would stay away from it because it is mainly inland),
south: oak, maple, ash + all of the above.
up in the mountain mainly birch.
and one more thing, the water, it lools really good, really realistic and fresh but (sorry) it looks like fresh water. remember fjords are salt water, ocean.
(you're doing great, Ozhobbitland looks great, though I have never been there)
Re: Forumshire-the animation
I'm doing another render of it, taller, steeper, no trees, more snow and I'm trying to make the water look more, um, oceany. {{ }}

Re: Forumshire-the animation
There are a lot of trees in the pictures you posted, Norc, and they look kinda piney to me. Am I missing something here?
Fake edit: Ozhobbitstan looks great, Petty. Love the mountain in the background.

Pettytyrant101 wrote:Thanks Norc good refrence points- he stuff I looked at wasn't quite so dramatic or sheer, or snowy for that matter.
Heres a test for Farmer Dave's carrot farm- crops still to be added. (apoligiies- it's really wide but only way to fit it all in without going miles back)
In general I'm quite pleased! It's a much nicer house than I seem to remember living in. The sign is grand, and the windmill looks very functional. That's a beautiful apple orchard in back as well!
I'll be a bit worried until I see how this year's carrot crop is doing though. They should be in nice straight rows and getting about knee height by now.
[Also, would it be possible to get some livestock? In particular a grey horse, if it's not too much trouble? I do love livestock! ]

Re: Forumshire-the animation
One thing though. The windmill needs to have a water tower alongside with the tank higher than the roof of the house. Otherwise the indoor plumbing won't work and I'll need an outdoor privy.....

Re: Forumshire-the animation
you see but you don't observe. (no pine threes except for four or five in one picture)Eldorion wrote:There are a lot of trees in the pictures you posted, Norc, and they look kinda piney to me. Am I missing something here?
north of the polar circle where I live, there are no natural pine trees, no spruces.
these one, furu (dunno what they are called in english) grow here. but they have their own kind of forests, you see, if you find them, they are very dominant. the biggest forests are found inland though, and not in the fjords. but hey, use them and not the other picture.
teh second picture, they are planted here and goddamn ugly!
Re: Forumshire-the animation
Glad you like Dave- I havent planted any crops yet! It's very time consuming, although if you look carefully you will see the rows are ready for them.
I don't have a water tower, so I put the pinwheel next to the well instead (which is tricky to see in that shot, but it is there) so its pumping water up the way. Outdoor privvy I'm afraid however.
As to a horse- oddly enough I can't do you a horse, but I can do horses- its several or none at all I'm afraid. I'll put some in the next render.
Right here is the 3rd attempt at Fjordianland.

Re: Forumshire-the animation

I almost forgot! make sure you can fit in our Fjordlandia Viking bar & kaffistove, main str. 221B, Needlehole
Re: Forumshire-the animation
I have been wondering where you Fjordians put your buildings on land that, wherever you drop a ball, it would roll quickly away from you!
