Re: Holidays and absences
does it have a sauna? I thought all Ffyorlandians have a sauna for after they roll in the snow, or is that just my fevered imagination? I am thinking Viggo here.

I commend your decision to take your house on the road Amarie, complete with viewing facilities!
Mrs Figg 90% humidity is a horriic thought- I am reduced to mush at about 40% usually. The thought of an entire Italy crammed in a sauna is an interestng one mind. Wouldn't want to be stuck next to Berlusconi though. No in a kilt at any rate

the sooner you train kids that it's more environmentally friendly to pee in the woods than flush (or use a pit) and possibly contaminate the water supply, the better. I know several folks with houses in the country who have the rule that all men at least must pee in the hedge.

Re: Holidays and absences
90% humidity is not at all unusual in Maryland in the summer. In fact, it's fairly common across the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S., and it gets worse the further south you go. It was very hot in Nevada but also very dry (it's a desert). Getting off the plane back in Maryland was a bit like entering a sauna.
Re: Holidays and absences
I just got back from the oral surgeon where I was anesthesized. I'm having trouble walking or stringing two thoughts together so please bear with me got for the time being. I can't even drink yet, though that changes in about an hour.

Re: Holidays and absences
I'm struggling to stay awake since I'm afraid I'll choke on my own blood otherwise. I've never actually had surgery (oral or otherwise) or been anesthesized before so this is all very new and scary for me. Fortunately the painkillers haven't worn off yet and I have a prescription for more, but for some reason I have the hiccups and that's actually rather painful right now.

wow... you really get drugged in the us when you're just having some unwanted teeth removed
Re: Holidays and absences
Good point Norc! What kind of dentists you got over there? We just get a jab with a needle here, in the gum, numbs the whole area up and they take em out- the jab wears off in an hour or two and then it hurts like hell until you get enough painkillers in you.

Re: Holidays and absences
I've pulled out six teeth with just local anesthetic. Wears off after three hours. And in that time you can't eat or drink hot drinks. Cuz you can't feel anything. No pain killers on my side. I have a very high tolerance of pain. I don't take pain killers if I'm not rolling on the ground in pain or bit in the face by a dog.
Re: Holidays and absences
I think wisdom teeth are extra deep or something, the roots probably go to your brain or wrap round your ears or something, the Ancient Egyptians probably pulled them out through your nose, so drugs is probably a good idea.
Its now 44 degrees, I kid you not. forty fookin four. I'm mmmeeeellltiiiinnnnnggg! African anticyclone straight from the Sahara. Cant go outside there are mirages telling me its Middle Earth, only if I follow them I will end up walking over a cliff face to my doom. keep seeing the far green country..

Re: Holidays and absences
Awww... poor Eldo... You won't choke on your blood.
Luckily my wisdom teeth haven't been giving me too much trouble. Yet, anyway. I had my tonsils removed when I was 7 and I've had two emergency cesareans, the first with full narcoses (since the epidural didn't work the way it should).

Re: Holidays and absences
I think many American dentists, and surgeons in general, like to use a general anesthetic for their own benefit rather than the patient's. It reduces the chances of getting bit or punched. Can't blame them really, but for myself I'd rather just go with a local. Some things are supposed to hurt.

Re: Holidays and absences
so glad you are not my dentist Dave, dont like the sound of 'some things are supposed to hurt'.
Hope you feel better soon Eldo, maybe you can get some special mouthwashes that numb everything instead of taking pills? But sometimes pills is good.

Re: Holidays and absences
when talking about choking on ones blood. When I pulled out my last two teeth about a month ago I woke up in the middle of the night with blood on my pillow and what felt like a mouthful of jelly in my mouth. I spat it out and it was coagulated (is that right?) blood. delicious. But I survived, so I don't think you'll choke on your blood.
