Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
oh, God, thanks guys ^_^ the tengwar simply says "Agent Nora" and yes, the coat... I do have something planned for that. Yes, if, and I say if because I am terrible at keeping schedules, I will be telling the tale of Agent Nora and Ally, I am sure your sketches are good, practice makes perfect as they say
Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
I love the drawing of Agent Nora! She's not quite how I imagined her, but the coat is just perfect. Although I imagined DI Eldo with a coat too since he and Sgt. Herring are a take-off of sorts from Sherlock and John. Maybe their mutual love of coats is what brought Eldo and Nora together though.

Well, I love drawing, but I'll be honest but my people aren't great. I mean they look like people, but I know for sure that people can draw way better. Arms are always odd looking and different lengths, and I have trouble drawing natural poses and faces. I think if I got a book and mapped out the proportions it'd be better, just I always struggle with freehand sketching people! I'm better (I like to think) at drawing buildings and objects, but it would still be nice to draw people so elegantly!

haha, DI Eldo isn't exentric enough to be seen as Sherlock in my eyes I've always thought they wore jackets like the one in the "derrick" series. With hats and all. Google or youtube it up I'll try to write this story of mine when I have winter vacation two weeks from now. btw.. starting to read the 7th(?) part of ur story.
Ally! Hands are freaking difficult! That's why she has them in her pockets I am no expert either I can't draw houses, even though I would really like to do that. they end up looking all the same
Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
Like this you mean?
Oh Eru have mercy! Look, it's Ringo and Nora checking out some notes and Eldo pining away in the background.

I put this togehter for you Norc (a bit too hastily probably) you may already know it but if not use this technique to help give a bit of variety to your buildings and let you put persepective on them. You can use the same technique for anything, castles, mansions, cottages, rows of houses and any other object in your picture.

This blokes is good for a still simple more advanced version with two vanishing points.

Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
Norc I love that picture you did of Agent Nora, maybe you could do pictures of how you imagine DI ELDO and Herring or maybe Orwellian the pathologist, it would be the funniest thing ever to have Agent Nora stories illustrated. I imagine Svalfart to look like these photos.

That second pic of the row of houses is a perfect example of when the perspective technique can come into its own- that would be reletively easy to reproduce using that technique.

Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
Thanks, I do know that technique, though I do not have the patience to make it look nice x) but thanks for the videos, maybe I'll give it a go
I always imagined Svalfart looking like this, because it sounded like Svalbard and you described fish and snow and so. Reminded a bit of my hometown too(below)

Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
yes they do look similar, is the first one Svalbad? somehow I imagine an oldie-worldy town, not very modern but with lots of memories of the herring industry of the 19th century, I imagine narrow streets and quaint docks, I see the police station as being the most modern building in the town, I think thats why weird stuff happens, because the town still thinks its in a time where people remember seeing mermaids and strange people like to live there because of the bohemian atmosphere.

Maybe he looked at your blog.
Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
Actually no, I didn't know you had a blog. Several years go I spent some time exploring the Lofoten Islands, then took the Hurtigruten up to Tromso for a short taste of civilization before I contiuned on to Vardo, then got off and hitch hiked down to Karrasjok, Kautokeno, and so on (I'd met some ecology students at the university at Tromso who said I needed to do that.)
I really loved Tromso! It's the only town in the far north with an old town,(that's how I recognized your picture) little folk music clubs, the feel of a university town, and the friendliness of a far-northern town. You're very lucky to call it home!

Well, I've never been to Baltimore
I blame Tolkien for my wanderlust. When harvest is over and winters get long, I sometimes just need to go someplace else, so I'll buy at one way ticket to some place interesting and go walkabout, asking the locals what I should see next. I'm lucky that I can usually take a month or more before I need to find a way back home.

Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
Mrs Figg, I have finally got to this ridiculous Fairy Tale of yours and have formed a plan. What I intend to do is this....
I will fly over to Tuscany (even though I hate flying) and immediately start humping you seven or eight times a day on your divan (in short bursts of two or three minutes), and when in the sweet still of the evening you fall into a rapturous and serene sleep (which are states of mind that actually exist together only in Tuscany I've heard), I will sit by said divan and listen to you talk in your sleep. I have no doubt you talk in your sleep, you see. My fear is we are missing out on a large quantity of your unrecorded BRILLIANCE and I solemnly desire to rectify the situation. (The sex will only be utilized on my part as a favour to you and as an, albeit pleasant, method for me). Also, I intend to sample at least some of the drugs you are taking.

Re: Agent Nora and The Fairy Cakes of Doom
I seem to be forever catching up with you people weeks late. And now I find that at some point I actually had possession of Illuminating Information. Never mind that I couldn't quite fathom the I.I. (something involving purple curtains or whatnot), what really struck me was that I had fishy fingers. After working my way through that I discovered...fish and gravy. What an unusual and totally inspiring concept...I clearly have lived a sheltered life. I can't wait to find out more. Please do continue!
p.s. David: Baltimore can be really fun but only if you are in the right mindset. Watch a few John Waters films back to back right before hitting Charm City, you've gotta just let yourself go with the skewed outlook on things.

You could also watch The Wire, but that would probably put you in a rather different mind-set! I actually had a conversation along those lines with a bunch of people from Uni today, several of whom moved to the Baltimore area for school, and they all said they thought The Wire had been in exaggeration until they got here That said, Baltimore isn't all bad, I just can't resist poking fun at it.
