Agent Nora and the Buningca mystery Empty Agent Nora and the Buningca mystery

Post by Mrs Figg Sun Sep 07, 2014 11:40 pm

Agent Nora knew something was wrong the moment she got out of the police car. It was a lovely sunny day just perfect for ice creams and lazing about in deck chairs. Svalfart didnt do ice cream, it being half town half exploding glacier covered volcano. people couldnt just laze about when from moment to moment there might be an explosion from the Bungo Bungo volcano. Agent Nora was so White she glowed, unlike PC Blue who glowed a mottled Lothlorien Blue. They both blinked in the unacustomed sunlight and tried to hop from one patch of shade to another like albino rabbits in Ibiza.
They were standing in a village green, a pleasant looking place with a duck pond and quaint pub. Buningca was situated not far from another village called Forumshire-on-sea. There was no sea, but mentioning that fact could get you killed in Forumshire, so people didnt.
The main industry was a buckie distillery and a couple of farms selling scary looking vegtables that had been genetically modified to resemble gentlemens dangly bits, these were sold at the saturday market in Buningca. so all in all there shouldnt really have been any problems or mysteries, but there had been a couple of odd things happening which had alerted the national press and foreign media. Something like a gaseous eruption had issued from under the pub, the earth had definately moved, so Agent Nora being an expert in eruptions and not tumbling off mountains and falling into radioactive snot green lakes, had been posted so far South.

Agent Nora slapped some spf factor 50 on her gently throbbing right arm, she drove in the standard regulation 'arm resting in a jaunty masculine fashion on the open window hey look at me I am so cool'  way Svalrartian policemen did. In Salfart you risked having your arm ripped off by passing Polar bears, but here in the soft Jessie South, nothing worse than a Bee parking itself for a bit ever happened.
She sauntered over to the pub with PC Blue and PC Ringo.
There was a sickly rotting gooseberry smell hanging in the air that got up your nose and gave it a wet Flick with a musty locker room towel.
Ringo wrinkled up his nose and gave a gigantic sneeze.
''this place stinks like festering trainers!'' he grumbled.
''oh stop moaning '' said Nora, ''its gonna get worse in the cellar, what are we doing here.......?''
They all looked at each other, a slightly gormless slack mouthed silence ensued for at least two Whole minutes, then, as if someone had sneaked up behind them and given them each a brutal wedgie, they snapped back to normality and headed into the dark and Smoky pub.

The 'gormless' bit seems particularly realistic. Very Happy

I'm glad to see the Agent Nora series still continuing, and also that "things that get you killed in Forumshire" is still getting traction. study
