I am so much more excited about the new series of Who than I currently am about seeing TH- yet I am a bigger Tollkien fan (just) if forced to choose between them so something is clearly wrong!

I know generally the beautiful and rich people can get away with wearing anything they like- but maybe not this time as Matt and Karen stroll through Cardiff together- Karen looks fine (that might be because I am assuming there is nothing on under that coat! Nod )
but what were you thinking Matt? He looks like he is going to make a Where's Wally (Waldo in US?) book not Who.

Despite only doing the doomed tv movie McCan remains a popular Doctor with fans.
I would recoomend tracking down the Big Finish Audio series which is considered official Who as much as the TV- McCanns Doctor did I think 3 entire series and several specials for Big Finish.

I thought Paul McGann was only popular with die hard fans, but kind of put the nix on the series until NuWho as they werent getting viewers? could be wrong but I thought he kind of killed Who for a bit. No

No not at all Mrs Figg. The McCAnn tv movie was a coproduction with a US tv network (Fox)- it did well in the UK with viewing figures comparable to NUwho and the BBC were very happy to go ahead with a series- but it flopped in the US and the American company pulled out of the deal.
It had nothing to do with McCann who fans liked- as has been evidenced by him goin on to do several series of Who for the Big Finish series- he is also a popular Doctor in the novel series too.

From wiki-

'The Eighth Doctor made his first television appearance in the 1996 Doctor Who television movie, the first time the Doctor had returned to television screens since the end of the original series in 1989. Intended as a backdoor pilot for a new television series on the Fox Network, the movie managed to draw 5.5% of the US audience, according to Nielsen Ratings. In the UK, it was received well, attracting over 9 million viewers and generally positive reviews. It was also generally well received in Australia.
Although the movie failed to spark a new television series, the Eighth Doctor's adventures continued in various licensed spin-off media, notably BBC Books' Eighth Doctor Adventures novels, audio plays from Big Finish Productions, and the Doctor Who Magazine comic strip. As these stories spanned the nine years between 1996 and the debut of the new television series in 2005, some consider the Eighth Doctor one of the longest-serving of the Doctors.
Despite the fact the Eighth Doctor appeared on television only once, he is the most prolific of all the Doctors (to date) in terms of number of individual stories published in novel, novella, short story and audio form.'

Quick word on Tardises that might be relevant. A Tardis is supposed to have six pilots- with one psychicly linked to the TARDIS itself. Each pilot stands at one of the panels on the main console, this explains why the Doctor when he is piloting is always runing manically around the console and why often he has certain levers tied with ropes so he can operate other panels from where he is.
His occasional hitting it with a hammer however is probably frustration!

Done with season 6. Sad
I guess it will be Dexter who entertains us now. With a wee dash of original Who, I think, just for the fun of it. Nod

You seen the xmas special yet from this year Amarie? If not you have that to look forward to still (even Mrs Figg liked it so you know its a goodun!).

And do join us on the Classic Who thread- I would of course recommend watching all the episodes there so far but if you dont have the time I would strongly recommend the very first episode and the last two episodes currently on the thread- (although if only watch those you will miss the debut of the Daleks).

Bugger it here you go just in case you havent seen them. -Should also say there are some spoilers in here if you have not seen series 6.

And a couple if scenes that were cut for time reason from series 5.

The first is set at end of 11th Hour when Amy first enters the Tardis.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8tuI38ChUI

This one is set at the end of the Angels two parter following on immediately from the final scene after Amy tries to seduce the Doctor.

I've had time to think, and a few more buckies, and on reflection there probably are one or maybe two small things which might still make me somewhat crabbit. Such as: politics, the media, people who ruffle childrens hair, dog walkers, shopkeepers that shortchange you whilst smiling, fat friends who walk two abreast on pavements, mothers with prams who think a pram gives them right of way anywhere, people who whistle out of tune, walking sticks, finding a mulitpak of twix at the back of the cupboard then discovering its empty, having to go fetch more buckie from Tin's Cellar, rain, wind, rain and wind together, losing scratch cards and forgetting I'd put dinner in the oven until the smoke alarm went off- and thats just today. Evil or Very Mad

I had a... interesting image in my head of a lad looking like a mix of Hagar the Horrible and groundskeeper Willy skipping merrily across a flowery field. Now he's tripping over walking sticks instead. How you inspire me! Laughing

Is he raging? If so youve pretty much got it! Twisted Evil

The Doctor Who rumour mill is running at full pace. This from the Express newspaper:

'Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch might have a role to play in Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary. An 'insider' said:
It's fitting that the Doctor comes face to face with his ultimate enemy, The Master, for the 50th anniversary and it's felt Benedict is the perfect choice if schedules can work. Fans will love the idea of the man who plays Sherlock Holmes taking on the Doctor.
Benedict has often been asked about whether he would like to play the Doctor so it will be ironic if he now ends up being The Master instead.'

And there is this too;

In her discussion with SFX about Worlds in Time, Caroline Skinner was also asked about a the possibility of a foe returning to the series itself:
SFX: The Zygons are in it! Is this a hint they’re going to be returning to the show anytime soon?
Caroline Skinner: [Laughs] “Wait and see.”

No idea what a zygon is?

'The Zygons have shape-shifting abilities, allowing them to replicate the appearance of another being, but they must keep the subject alive in order to use its body print. This skill was vital in their concealment and in their scheme to seize power despite their small numbers. The Zygons were also accompanied by an armoured cyborg creature called the Skarasen, the lactic fluid of which was necessary for them to feed.'

Doctor Who [2] - Page 8 200px-Zygon_28Doctor_Who_monster29

First encountered by the 4th Doctor in Loch Ness in Scotland. Those of an observant mind might remember when the 4th Doctor companion Sarah Jane meets Rose Tyler and they are trading who has seen the most weird stuff Sarah Jane trumps Rose with "the Loch Ness Monster"- it is this story she is referencing (the Skarasen being Nessie).
The Zygons, although you don't see any, are also named as being among the Alliance formed to trap the 11th Doctor in the Pandorica at the end of series 5.

On location filming in Wales- if looks at all familar that might because its a favourite Who filming location and has been used previously in Doctor Who to represent an alien planet (Army of Ghosts), Bad Wolf Bay (Doomsday/Journey's End) and Alfava Metraxis (The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone). Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill and Mark Williams were pictured during filming.
