I realize that, but that's not the best thing to do when you're in the situation of the guy Leelee was talking about, especially if you don't know if they feel the same way.

Richard Dawkins and Rowan Williams are to discuss the role of religion at a Cambridge Union debate.
Ben Kentish, president of the union, said it should be a highlight of the debating society's 200-year history.
"Our speakers are the most renowned commentators on this subject," he said.
"The prospect of seeing Professor Dawkins and the former Archbishop of Canterbury debate the subject is particularly exciting for our members," Mr Kentish said.
"It has all the makings of an excellent debate."
Professor Tariq Ramadan, Andrew Copson, the chief executive of the British Humanist Association, and Douglas Murray, founder of the Centre for Social Cohesion, will also take part.
The debate will be filmed and made available soon after on the union's website.- BBC

Should be good two very intelligent men at opposite ends of the spectrum.

That could well be true, I do know we get more stuck in our ways as we get older.

I will take your word on the Gorbals Petty, don't know much about Glasgow though. And Mississippi could be pretty bad. Missouri could be scary though, it was in law that you were allowed to kill Mormons, luckily it was repealed in the 70s though.

There was a man who was stuck on a roof during a flood. A boat came to rescue him but he denied it saying "God will save me". A boat and a helicopter came but he denied both of them saying the same thing. When he died he went to heaven and asked God "Why didn't you save me?".God replied I sent two boats and a helicopter what more do you want?"

so the Pope has abdicated, and its getting weird round here. Theres conspiracy theories a go-go, and the loonies have come out the woodwork, saying its the end of times blah blah, but that will only happen if Berlusconi gets back in power. Anyway they reckon its nothing to do with the Popes age, which is reasonable, but everything to do with Vatileaks, by all accounts he doesnt feel he can trust anyone, so buisness as usual then. Its not changed since the Renaissance and the Borgias, only today they cant have kids and create dynasties. But for the rest its not changed much I reckon. poor bloke he just wants a quiet life, he is more an academic than a charismatic leader, he writes books, he's a theologian, I dont think he was cut out for the job, they need a strong reformer, but I doubt they will ever get one.

I heard Berlusconi is going to run for Pope. Nod

Seriously thought, I think it's cool that there are African Cardinals in the running, but more than anything I hope the Church picks a reformer and someone who will crack down on abuse. Not holding my breath though.

the problem about the African Pope thing is that there is a prophecy doing the rounds at the moment (from the loonies Shocked ) that says that a Black Pope means the end of the world is nigh. long was this doom fortold (I have waited years to be able to slip that phrase in Razz ) I think its by Nostradamus or Nosferatu or whoever, LOONY TUNES! anyway its brilliant stuff, all this is on the supposedly serious state tv news programmes, they just slip it in casually like 'Pope abdicates', Armageddon will be next week kind of thing, its like living in the Middle Ages. what japes. We got a taste of the Italian press here in Washington State when Amanda Knox was being pilloried. She was a Seattle girl so our local news followed the story very closely. Our state was about ready to declare war on Italy over the way the press treated her! Evil or Very Mad

It was appalling here. She was made into a femme fatale celebrity because she is pretty, and the police and forensic team were totally incompitent. Really scary. and quite sickening. The press were obsessed by her sex life and everything she wore was analysed. theres no way they got a fair trial.
