Re: Is God evil - or just lazy?
Strictly speaking this isn't the right place for this but its religion based.
This from the BBC news site:
"Sexual relations between ancient humans and their evolutionary cousins are critical for our modern immune systems, researchers report in Science journal.
Mating with Neanderthals and another ancient group called Denisovans introduced genes that help us cope with viruses to this day, they conclude.
Previous research had indicated that prehistoric interbreeding led to up to 4% of the modern human genome.
The new work identifies stretches of DNA derived from our distant relatives.
In the human immune system, the HLA (human leucocyte antigen) family of genes plays an important role in defending against foreign invaders such as viruses."
Now I have often wondered just how far back in time the earliest known stories go. Most of the tablets of these tales, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, date from about 1000-1500bc but are clearly copies of older texts no longer existing. Writing in a form in which it could be used to tell a complex tale dates to about 3000-4000bc. And its generally accepted the tales recorded were probably already long in the social concious as oral tales. Now the Genesis Tale also derives from these same sources and among the many things the versions have in common is people on the planet with home the 'true humans', us, mate with. In Genesis these are the Daughters of Men. In the Summerian version they are earlier attempts by the Gods to make a useful sort of human out of the indigineous life, who the Gods think are to stupid to do the tasks of growing food and serving the Gods. These early experiments also produce the race of the Giants, amongst whom are the Summerian Gilgamesh and Goliath from the Bilbe. The Bible also describes them as 'the mighty men of renown.'
So is their some truth in the old stories and are they remembering a time when there were indeed more than one species of human on the planet and when the different version interbred?
I find the whole idea of living on a planet with 3 or more sentient versions of humans fascinating in the extreme.

How did you know that I was listening to Fatboy Slim earlier today, Petty? And on the day I decide to post on Forumshire again.
(Also, I was listening to "Weapon of Choice", which you first introduced me to. )

That'll be the miruvor in the buckie, might only be 0.001% but you get some weird side effects from anything elvish including random psychic abilities- certianly nothing at all to do with Chris posting a FatBoy Slim vid immediately above.
