Re: Shadows in the West Discussion Thread
Lorient: "Thranduil's people are using guerilla tactics in fighting the orcs within their borders. Many elves of Lothlorien are mobilizing to attack moria and defend from Dol Guldur. The dwarves of the lonely mountain are joining with the men of Dale to defend their homes from the attacks. This is only the first wave of the fight, there is still much more to come..."
The above seems to me to be a little out of whack.
Many elves of Lothlorien are mobilizing to attack moria and defend from Dol Guldur. Sauron has just taken Dol Guldur back, as in janesmith. Legolas, I presume, will soon enough go to Rivendell with news. I think Legolas brings news of the Shadow rerturning to Dol Guldur to the Council, though I'm not sure about that. (The elves did not, and would not, live in Dol Guldur. Sauron had retreated and left it largely unmanned, I believe, so all they did was retake it without having to fight for it).
The dwarves of the lonely mountain are joining with the men of Dale to defend their homes from the attacks. The dwarves and men have only encountered an emissary "black rider" from Sauron, which is put "before" Bombadil. I asked Biffo about this, the leaving of Gimli and Gloin for Rivendell comes next. Gloin mentions the dwarves' concerns and that the Black Rider will return to get answer from the dwarves about their plans (I think).
Otherwise, all seems right with what you've done, Lorient.

Re: Shadows in the West Discussion Thread
I just wanted to include Mirkwood and moria. There actually was fighting at Lorien and Dale in the book, so that isn't completely crazy. Most of those northern attacks did come from Dol Guldur

You're right, but it was just a little later in the timescale you set. No dramas.
In janesmith's story, it's now set up for the Elves to start a guerilla war, I guess. They certainly would be sending armed scouts out knowing Dol Guldur is reclaimed and no doubt having troops being sent there now.
I imagine Sauron will be fighting to take the eastern parts of Osgiliath, the east bank (?), and that's what (at this stage) Elidar is on his way to prevent?

I'm seriously tempted to not do much with Baingil - maybe a little, but not too much - you guys are doing quite a nice job with her as is! Might create some other sort of character...

Given I have been remiss in keeping up with the Shadows of the West thread thats sounds particularly dubious!

Dubious? Nah. Just means she's working pretty good as more of an NPC-type character, which frees up my hands to have fun with maybe some less respectable people.

Re: Shadows in the West Discussion Thread
Tin! I have slightly delayed Legolas' trip to Rivendell. I've plonked Gollum with the elves and sent Aragon on his way. Hopefully he'll have time to reach the hobbits in Bree and return to Rivendell, arriving there about the same time Legolas does. This will give Gollum the chance to escape too. Our timings may still be a little out - but if Aragorn and Legolas go to Rivendell together, the timing will be even more off-kilter! Hope you don't mind! Your bit of Role Playing needs no change with what I've done, I think!

Interesting thought... Before he reaches Moria seems unlikely, but when War of the Ring really kicks into business, yes, I do see the possibility!

I see! I seem to have misinterpreted where your band of orcs were headed, because I thought they were going to Mirkwood. But if not...

Re: Shadows in the West Discussion Thread
I found out Dol Guldur does actually attack thranduil and he fights them back in a guerilla type fashion. This does not happen until very late in the war though, but it does still happen!

Yes indeed! Hopefully, our timing is sorted. I'm now waiting with interest for Baingil and Tin to come up with something new about their elvish ladies.. Janesmith is holding up her end of the bargain. A good girl, she is. (No pressure though, girls). And Elidar? Hmm, Lorient? And Khím Biffo! And Odo, Odo! And Aénna, Porgy! And that girl in Bree, Mirabella! Hmmm?
Uruk is still trekking...

Re: Shadows in the West Discussion Thread
My guy sings:
The Road goes ever on and on
Out from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
Let others follow it who can!
Let them a journey new begin,
But I at last with weary feet
Will turn towards the lighted inn,
My evening-rest and sleep to meet.
The Road goes ever on and on
Out from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
Let others follow it who can!
Let them a journey new begin,
But I at last with weary feet
Will turn towards the lighted inn,
My evening-rest and sleep to meet.

Re: Shadows in the West Discussion Thread
I have to write a solo show for my acting class (6 pages!) so I think I might warm up by writing some more to this story we've worked out.
