A Daughter of the Lands West and East

The world was ending. His screaming intensified as the noise grew louder.

"Gene, run! Take him now!"

She gripped his hand. A heavy wooden door opened.

Through the fabric of her dress she could feel waves of heat from his body, apple cheeks, eyes glassy with tears. She lingered over a small facial scar from a tumble taken months ago when he bounced off the bed.

The man stood by the backdoor.

She breathed into his hair before holding him out at arms length. Pushing away his protesting dimpled hands she forced the boy to the door.

After several deep breaths she composed herself. "Right then. The two of you. Off you go."

The women stood watching as the pair walked out of the door. She watched as the man paused, turning towards her. "Long Live King Ady!" flashing his wife one last smile as he spoke before continuing his flight.

"It's getting awfully lonely in here" the voice gently pleaded after closing the door.

She walked through the house before pressing her ear against the front door. She could hear the muffled shouts from the house next door.

In the kitchen behind her sat a mouldy loaf of bread laying on the table.

Soon. The beginning.

Standing graveside, a small coffin descended. She imagined what would happen if she jumped down to join him, screaming and throwing dirt upon herself with her ragged fingers.

Her husband had gotten a sentence of five years of hard labour as an accomplice. Her eight year old death.

He hit the hammer hard, nailing his hatred of the injustice into the wood of the pews being built.

Thick, jagged nails for building.

The Church was wrong and corrupt for their lust of wealth and gold.

Short, sharp nails like the nails of a coffin.

Laying down his hammer, he bowed his head and cried.

Lord Eldo was ninety-five times wrong and the people must be told.

Very interesting.
I'm very curious what Lord Eldo was 95 times wrong about and why the world's ending, as well as what the man did to warrant five years hard labor.
