Re: Future releases
Ive never seen Enigma so I dont know how accurate it is historically.
I suspect still more so than the US one which I have seen- and Hollywood does have a deserved reputation for rewrting history to big up Americas part in things, even when you werent there at all.

Re: Future releases
BTW, what was the American one called? Was it U-571? That was the only American film mentioned on the Enigma in Fiction page on Wikipedia, but it's entire premise is based on historical inaccuracy of various sorts.
Also, based on this and other threads, you seem to carry quite a grudge about America having the gall to not immediately jump into WWII.

What beyond the 100's of thousands of lives that might have been saved if Amercica hadnt pussyfooted about for so long?- but I dont have a grudge, I think its a shame and not Americas finset hour historically- but I really dont like it when history is seriously distorted- for that reason I dont like Braveheart either, doesnt mean I have a grudge against Scots (well I do obviously, but thats because I am on and its perfectly natural, not because I think Braveheart is a vile historical film)

Re: Future releases
Alan Mathison Turing, OBE, FRS (/ˈtjʊərɪŋ/ TEWR-ing; 23 June 1912 – 7 June 1954), was a British mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, and computer scientist. He was highly influential in the development of computer science, giving a formalisation of the concepts of "algorithm" and "computation" with the Turing machine, which can be considered a model of a general purpose computer.[2][3][4] Turing is widely considered to be the father of computer science and artificial intelligence.[5]
During World War II, Turing worked for the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS) at Bletchley Park, Britain's codebreaking centre. For a time he was head of Hut 8, the section responsible for German naval cryptanalysis. He devised a number of techniques for breaking German ciphers, including the method of the bombe, an electromechanical machine that could find settings for the Enigma machine.
After the war, he worked at the National Physical Laboratory, where he designed the ACE, one of the first designs for a stored-program computer. In 1948 Turing joined Max Newman's Computing Laboratory at Manchester University, where he assisted in the development of the Manchester computers[6] and became interested in mathematical biology. He wrote a paper on the chemical basis of morphogenesis, and predicted oscillating chemical reactions such as the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction, which were first observed in the 1960s.

Re: Future releases
Yeah its the false pretence that its 'real' history thats annoying. Its seems decietful- Inglorous Bastards doesnt seem to be tryng to decieve anyone into thinking its what really happened.

Re: Future releases
inglorious bastards SUCKS! there i said it.
btw, i have a grudge about (not all americans, those who made the call) the ones who thought bombing hiroshima whe they knew the war was near the end.
or the hundreds of norwegian jews that were left in consentration camps by the norwegians, who's responsible for that.. no, there were many faults in wwll, it doesn't make it better however to fancy up history in movies.
but i am looking forward to this one. (norwegian director!)

You're not a Kill Bill fan by any chance, are you?

I'm not touching this with a ten foot poll.
Re: Future releases
naaah.. kill bill is ok.. i just find his glorification of murder a bit sick.. i dunno, i kinda think tarantino as a person (in interviews) seems a bit strange, idk.. not a big fan, no, and i absolutely HATE IB.

I find it shallow and trying too hard to be cool, he must think that gross violence is cool.

Re: Future releases
I think he is weird. there is endearing weird (Petty) and spooky weird (Odo) and creepy weird (Orwell) or just Tarantino weird.

I've found a lot of Kill Bill fans seem to think IB is one of Tarantino's weaker efforts, which is why I asked. I'm curious why you dislike it so much, though I might regret asking.
Re: Future releases
I liked Reservoir Dogs, its like a filmed stage play and I like its reliance on dialogue.
I enjoyed the timey-wimey nature of Pulp Fiction but I thought the characters were more 2D and cartoony and didnt enjoy it as much despite all the clever stuff.
Not a Kill Bill fan, found it very boring and never in fact bothered with watching the second part.

I'm pretty sure Tarantino does think that. Not going to dispute that he's weird, though.
EDIT: Kill Bill 2 is infinitely better than 1, but it's still not his best. It's definitely Tarantino at (or close to) his most cartoony, though.

Re: Future releases
yeah, i don't have any good arguments why i don't like it any other than i didn't like it, but the music is good and kill bill is better than IG at least.
