Re: Future releases
Im hopeless with numbers too Azriel. Yet Im fine with the big concepts although I dont understand a word of the maths proving them.
I am happy with an universe of energy as described n string theory,or the ability of one thing to be in more than one place at a time.
It all rather fits well with the Shaman stuff I was into in my youth- they talked out of a universe of energetic strings wich vibrate with conciousness and bestow life by seperating off and entrapping in a bubble some of their own energy.
Awareness and pereception occur when the energy inside the bubble line up with the matching energy outside.
Shaman can turn into eagles/wolves (or at least from their point of view anyway) by shifting the point where their awareness assembles the energy to energy inside the bubble not normally activated in everyday life. When they do that they perception automatically matches up with the appropriate energy outside and a new total world is seen.
They also talk of moving vast distances quickly by moving through a
perceptionl universe of energy rather than matter. And that one thing
can be in more than one place- here and here.
So having those sort of concepts physics always seemed to me to be catching up in numbers to stuff Shaman have known for thouands of years- just they express it differently and they are only interested in how to alter perception, not the universe.
But I understand it better in shaman talk than I do in numbers!

Re: Future releases
I like that shaman Idea Petty ! The way you describe it makes it easier to absorb. AND I actually understood it ! I can connect with that, uh huh I much prefer the spiritual/seasonal way of life. Faerie tales like "Jack in the green", solstices, white witch craft, & good old tree hugging

- Spoiler:
'Star Trek into Darkness is, by and large, a reprocessed version of an earlier film in the series, and your enjoyment of this new film depends almost entirely on your ability to spot links to the old one.
It took three men to come up with Star Trek into Darkness’s plot: Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who wrote the last film, and Damon Lindelof, who co-authored Prometheus and the television series ‘Lost’. Together they have come up with a very clever sleight-of-hand: all of the narrative cracks are papered over with references to old Star Trek characters and episodes. 'Hang on a minute,' you find yourself thinking, 'that doesn’t make sen ... oh look, a Tribble.'
Strange new worlds. New life. New civilisations. Boldly going where no man has gone before. That pioneer spirit? It’s gone.
Lindelof ruins everything.
- Spoiler:
- I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie.
Re: Future releases
"Sherlock’s own towering giant Benedict Cumberbatch arrives as John Harrison, ex-Starfleet member with a grudge, and the true baton-receiver of Heath Ledger’s mould-breaking Joker; as cunning, conniving and controlled as said King of the Clowns, but with the same combat brilliance as any of our super heroes. He’s a thunderbolt of both energy and malevolence, and like the film’s thunderous story, he is simply breathtaking. So breathtaking that it wouldn’t be too much of stretch to predict big things come awards season, as he is that astounding here.”
— Flickering Myth [x]. I’ve updated my original post of U.K. critics’ reviews, but this one deserved to be highlighted on its own. (I’ll probably do a separate post about American reviews when it comes out in the U.S.)
btw, those reviews are a bit off, because JJ Abrams has stated they made the movie for non Star Strek fans. Like, you didn't even have to have seen the last movie to enjoy the movie. so idk why those says that you have to be a trekkie to enjoy it

Re: Future releases
Empire magazine gave St a glowing review but it contained this -
Star Trek 2.0 (or XI) eschewed the speechifying, arthritic cast and bad hair of the previous flicks, upped the energy, vibrancy and spectacle, but still managed to respect Roddenberry’s dramatis personae, if not his spirit. Into Darkness follows exactly the same principles. Only more so.
Take away the spirit and the ethos GeneRoddenberry represented and what is left is no longer ST in my view.
So glad he is buggering off to do SW- I hope thats the end of this reboot too or if must go on that its done by people with some respect towards the originals aims.

There once was a man from Madrass
Who's balls were constructed of brass
When jangled together
They played stormy weather
And lightening shot out of his ass!
