Re: Excerpts from The Wobbit (A Parody)
Orwell, I agree with Ringdrotten! Or, please feel free to do a parody of "The Sillmarillion." Only two have been published, and I have no intention of writing one myself. On the other hand, it seems like a thankless job.Ringdrotten wrote:"But I'm also thinking to give up my spoof because the Hobbit-spoof field is getting a little crowded it seems" - Orwell
Should people stop making music because there are too many other musicians around? Or film makers stop making films because films have been made before? What a sad world that would be

Re: Excerpts from The Wobbit (A Parody)
First, thanks for your support in The Bugel!Mrs Figg wrote:Orwell has a good point. Theres no such thing as bad publicity, have you thought of contacting major newspapers? get in there before the next film comes out, like next week for DOS. There will be a buzz about it in the press, but press stories go stale immediately, you have to get in while they are interested, ie, now. Next week the press is going to be full of Hobbit related stories, they may be interested in running a story on your predicament.
Sadly, the controversy around the stolen book title hasn't captured the world's imagination as much as I had hoped. There was VERY little interest, and even some criticism, of the story in The Chicago Tribune.
However, if any Forumshire folk can share this story with any of the less respectable fan sites, that would be great. I've tried with no success. I'm much more engaged here than on any other site. I don't think they trust me.

I should be working on the presentations I have to do tomorrow. Instead, I'm drinking bourbon and updating my avatar. Who am I?
Re: Excerpts from The Wobbit (A Parody)
And when did I become a Ringwinner? Last time I checked, I was a Proto-Goblin, or something. Thanks for the upgrade, Forumshire!
I'm going to get back to working on my day job (at night, ironically) until I metabolize this bourbon.

Crap, how could I miss this - I'm 41 minutes late I'll buy it eventually, though, when I get through all the other books I've got on my list

If you miss the deadline, let me know and I'll Gift you a copy. It's the least I can do. Your review of The Wobbit was excellent.
Re: Excerpts from The Wobbit (A Parody)
Pleased you're happy with the service, Paul. Ringo's review of The Hobwit is as brief as to be non-existent!

You have to do as I've done, Orwell: overcome your natural shyness and start pleading with people to do stuff for you.Orwell wrote:Pleased you're happy with the service, Paul. Ringo's review of The Hobwit is as brief as to be non-existent!

I gave away 267 copies of The Superfriends Of The Ring over Christmas, thanks to Bungo Baggins and his tireless promotional work. Thanks, Bungo, and thanks to everyone else that posted about the giveaway or downloaded a free book.
Re: Excerpts from The Wobbit (A Parody)
Just wanted to bump Paul's thread to say that I (finally) finished Superfirends the other day and found it very enjoyable. Give it a read if you haven't.

Re: Excerpts from The Wobbit (A Parody)
Thanks, Bungo! I've been keeping to myself lately, trying to get a Tolkien Reading Day event put together. That, plus my job, house, kids and wife have kept me busier than usual. In a good way.
If you find yourself in the Chicago area on 3/25/14, stop by my event at Defiant Comics in Forest Park, IL. I will provide the Dancing Doughnuts and Elvish Coffee. If you can't make it, thanks again for your help!

Re: Excerpts from The Wobbit (A Parody)
You need to do a euro tour Paul! Chicago is too far, and I hear everyone there is windy!

Nice, Bungo! I've been meaning to read it for a while now, but Game of Thrones is keeping me busy for the moment. Did you read the Wobbit?
Paul - nice to see you around here again! Glad to hear you're still busy with stands and events What happened to those rude plagiarists? How's writing?
