Beautiful landscape, a different countryside to what I have here in the South East Smile Yours looks older, has struggled & is still fighting. If it could talk it would tell of things so amazing you could never take it in. My countryside is lush & green but lazy. It idles away & cant be bothered where yours is awake & alive, Mine ambles along the stream from one pub to another tea shop. The sheep hardly move even when noisy trucks go by, yours, even the birds are on alert.

This pic is of the cottage me & my daughters spent the weekend at early in December. Woke up to watch peacocks plodding about.

Wait, where'd THEY come from? One doesn't normally just see peacocks traipsing through.

Looks like there'd be good eating on them. But I reckon that's not why they keep'em.

Their calls are also ugly in inverse proportion to their visual beauty.

Yep they do tend to screech a bit, but from a long distance their cries are quite nice. I once set some birds free that I bought live from local market. I didnt like the thought they would be eaten, and they were being fed corn which is not their natural diet. I made sure they wouldn't effect the local fauna and had a water supply before I let them go, they just toddled off and started mooching the grass for tasty insects, they were 4 Guinea Fowl, don't know what sex they were or if they survived but they do eat a massive amount of insects, live in trees, and survive in the wild ok. Sometimes I hear a strange bird call in the local forest and wonder if they bred and survived.

{{ Yup well done Figg, especially on the checking they weren't going to inadvertently wreck the local environment. Better than my attempt so save a trapped haggis, it somehow ended up on my plate next to a pile of mashed neeps and tatties. In fairness it wasn't entirely my fault, it was just at the last minute I realised I was hungry and he was made of haggis. Nod }}

A long set of slightly less hot days is worse than one hot one. Gives buildings and other structures time to really warm up so you don't get any break at night.

{{ Tracked Cù-Sìth once when camping. Friend and I came upon tracks of a very large dog in some mud, and alongside them small bare feet tracks, rather odd as we were miles from anywhere. Cù-Sìth is a faery dog and is sometimes accompanied by such (hence the small footprints) but we never found it as the tracks ran out once they got to heather. Can't track anything through heather, too springy, just goes back into shape even if you've been lying on it for some time. Fortunately we never heard it either- it barks incredibly loudly three times- you have till the third to get the hell out of there or its a trip to a faery mound and lifelong servitude, if youre lucky.  pale  }}
