Re: Just...................whatever
Apparently there's a music festival and lots of bands playing and parades and stuff. Others had fond memories from going as youngsters. Saw nothing of other bands, and since Heathrow ate our instruments noone saw us either. Might be a covid thing, might be our timing.
So it was mostly us enjoying a trip to England.
A castle ruin on a hill and that is always interesting. It has Flamingoland nearby, a beachside street with lots of blinking lights and arcades that want to take your money. The hotel was alright, very English and that is fun.
A group went to York (not me cause the kids wanted a whole day in Flamingoland).

Re: Just...................whatever
Just in case anyone cares, finally have my video of the P51 Mustang flight I did a couple of weeks back.
It is a 360 video so you can drag the view about or move your phone/device around for different views. You should also be able to watch in VR if you have a device that can connect to YouTube.
I have timecoded the sections so you can skip the boring startup and taxiing bits and get to the fun if you like.
Next up on my flying bucket list... ME109 (need to get saving again!!)

Yeah, it has old charm but looked well kept. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Lots of little things to see in the common areas. Very amusing for us Scandinavians to see.
Don't know the price level tho, we had a package deal with meals included. Dinners and desserts were good. Breakfast was... English....
It was close to the shopping streets, the beach area, not too far from the castle.

To be fair, there was egg, toast, cereal, jams and yoghurt, so we had options for all.

Re: Just...................whatever
If it ever crossed my mind to visit Forumshire on my phone (looking at at anything like this on a small screen sounds like the definition of insanity to me) I assume it will know what to do? 'Cause my computer browser sure as heck doesn't know how to make sense of it.

No beans? No fried tomatoes? Black pudding? These things are what perplex Americans the first time around so damn early in the morning.

Halfy - your phone should know what to do. On your computer, you should be able to use your mouse to drag the screen around to the right point of view.

Ah, had to switch to an updated browser. I stick to a trimmed down one unless needed - the modern ones are resource hogs.

Forward airspeed is about 300mph that is the stat that matters for aerobatics.

In related news, I might be flying with the Red Arrows on Saturday.
Not technically "with" them... but I will likely be in the air flying around while they are in the same air flying around.
Think that will be fun but I will let you know!

It's the strangest thing... I'm certain I hear some type of Bond-ish theme music playing, I think it's coming from this thread.

Re: Just...................whatever
There isn't much you can see unfortunately. I was about 10 mins outside of the airport when they came in for their run and break. I could see them from above (about 2000ft versus them at about 600ft) but they were off to my left so nothing on camera.
Spent a few hours at the airport yesterday so lots of close up photos since I can get airside (luxury of being a pilot in training).

Re: Just...................whatever
All being well I should be going to the Great Dorset Steam Fair on Sunday, it's supposedly the largest Heritage event of its kind in Europe:
https://www.gdsf.co.uk/
The show hasn't ran for the last two years (due to covid) and it's been 4 or 5 since I last went, so very much looking forward to what should be a great day out. I'll try to post a few photos...
