& yes, I bet it is a tear jerker, ( even if no one else does IL bawl ) Looks better than that God awful Peter Rabbit !! they ruined that. I was looking forward to a bit of Beatrix Potter & boy was I pissed off about that one !

That new Mary Poppins has the right feel about it. We Americans were perfectly fine with Van Dyke's accent, you folks are all a fantasy land over there anyway. I'm just wondering if Lynn-Miranda can fill his shoes...never seen him really dance before. But if anyone is up to a challenge HE is.

Yeah, it took actually meeting a decent number of people from the UK (and other countries) to disabuse myself of this notion as a young teen.

{{Id imagine the missing frames are reconstructed using the information in the frames either side of it. Youd need some pretty powerful tech and for me its the most impressive thing about it- I find the colouring a bit off however, it has a painted on look. Ive seen better colour restoration before, nut not reconstruction of frames like that. Which is very impressive.}}

The frame rate thing is called motion interpolation and some modern TV sets can do it while playing a movie, though a lot of film purists loathe it. PJ's hardly a film purist--he's certainly not dedicated to physical film or 24fps as an aesthetic choice (not that the footage he's working form here even reached that frame rate)--but I have no doubt that the team at Weta was able to do a far better job with the specialized equipment and computing power they have.
