Re: Just...................whatever [7]
hmm...I've never had poor performance without some nasty little bugger (usually adobe related) chewing up cpu time. Ok, I'm tapped out.

Re: Just...................whatever [7]
In many cases it's not the browser, it's the web itself. People seem intent on cramming in as many extraneous flashy displays and what not as possible. Compare how your computer behaves when you have forumshire (the most lightweight site you'll find) to a page like MSN or something similar. Why can't we have a simple photo ad anymore? They're all videos that run automatically.

Agreed! Horrible verging on evil
I used to be able to use GoogleEarth and also to upload to Youtube, but now that's impossible unless you install Chrome, and when you do Chrome barges through the door like the house-guest-from-hell, rearranging the furniture as it likes and leaving the doors and windows open for it's friends (like google-analytics and it's ilk that go through your fridge, your dirty laundry and your spare change drawer looking for interesting tidbits to sell at the data market! )
NOT IN MY HOUSE!!!

ooo - that's tempting! I use an ad blocker to cut down on the garbage, but many sites are detecting ad blockers and refusing to load. Will this NoScript trick work without tripping the adblock alarms?

Re: Just...................whatever [7]
Yep. You'll get a menu of 20 or 30 scripts being blocked, and a choice of temporarily or permanently allowing scripts individually, allowing the whole page, etc. It's a bit of trial-and-error and takes some time to get the right combination and to figure out which are hogging the most bandwidth, but once you get it figured for any site you can make it permanent. Then you come and go at will without all the noise. I'm probably using 10% of the bandwidth you are right now.

CCleaner always helps, but I'm getting the feeling you've already tried that. It isn't an HP laptop by any chance? I've had a couple of those, and they all get overheated, resulting in absolute shitty performance.

What? No, I am sorry. what I meant was that this Fred guy is a writer, he talks on one of the dvd.s He is so deadpan, his voice and tone so boring you would never think he was funny. But when he actually played the part he was hysterical. I loved him

ASUS laptop. I have done registry cleanups and defrags and everything I can think of. Was watching my system performance as I ran things and it looked like might be a RAM issue... Was nearly maxed out a few times... I have dedicated some to assist with CPU performance so might have to steal it back.
