Imagination can be a curse or a cure. I dont mind computer games being so outlandish, its expected, its a dip into the fantasy pond. You do this with a film that Im going to have to pay over £10 to watch & £4 for a bucket of popcorn & you can kiss my a**e. I cant see Gollum as an action hero tho Smile

He looks a bit like Dobby from Harry potter in that clip.

As to this game, putting aside the Tolkien aspects it looks like gameplay wise itll probaby be a mix of a stealth game and one in which you get resources and use them to create traps and the like.
If they actually try to use any Tolkien it could open up the gameplay bit more, assuming it follows him leaving the mountains and going in search of Bilbo via Mirkwood and eventually drawn down to Mordor. At least it'd offer graphic variety to a bunch of dark goblin caves. My main issue with the trailer isnt the concept as such, its the portrayal of Gollum's personality which seems to me to lean more into the film versions simplistic version of a split personality Gollum than anything like the books more complex character.}}

I originally wasn't planning to watch those, because what could possibly be presented that we haven't endlessly dissected already? But then I reflected that Petty knows the finer details of the movie better than anyone from the making of his purist cut, so if he posted this, it must have something to add.

so it doesn't have much to add, but my goodness is it well done. I really enjoyed it.

I had never thought that when Gandalf provided the flash when Bilbo disappeared that people would assign it to him: I just thought a flash appeared. It does make sense that Gandalf would be willing to take the blame for Bilbo's disappearance, but I never read it that way.

Another thing that did strike me as new is the assertion that the 16 rings that Celebrimbor and Sauron made together were undifferentiated. It was Sauron that split them between men and dwarves. So this is a question for the lore masters: is it true that the 16 rings were identical? Or is this just an interpolation of the narrator?

Finally watched the Rivendell vid. Didn't realize the last Alliance spent 3 years in Rivendell regrouping and forging weapons. How did Rivendell withstand a siege? No walls are mentioned, and one can't keep sending floods day after day.

Those are some of the best portrayals of Beorn I've seen. Never thought to wonder before: he had a son, what type of woman must that have been? Probably not the type to flag down a taxi just because it started raining.
