Tolkien related video's.

That name ( Haleth ) I heard in The Two Towers by Peejers. Aragorn was testing out a sword belonging to a young lad, trying to give him confidence. He asked the child what his name was and the young lad replied "Haleth"

His young fresh face sort of resembled that likeness.

Yep Haleth can derive from Old English, which Tolkien used to translate the langwich of the Rohirrim.

In the case of the woman, hal- could be Mannish for "chief" (WJ page 238), or the name could derive from hal(a) "watch, guard" (WJ page 270), where Tolkien notes that the title of the chieftains of Brethil should not be lord nor Master. Here Haladin "Wardens" Haldad "= Watchdog". Some have noted that the Sindarin feminine ending -eth could explain the ending, but I don't think there's anything published (yet) which states that.

In the external history, Haleth had been a name for a male for quite some time, and still appeared to be such in the Grey Annals from the early 1950s.

I wasn't too sure about this video for the first few minutes, but then he got into brass tacks.

Hearing his voice I assumed the chap was older ? He did a good job I think. All these years later and Lord of the Rings is still interesting people enough to dig deeper, " and that is a comforting thought " Very warming, makes me smile

I had the same reaction.  His narration annoyed me a bit at first, but that went away when I saw him in person with the same voice. Youngish chappie trying hard to understand Tolkien in depth.

In Deep Geek is my favorite for the quality of narration, I just wish he hadn't sullied himself by making comparable videos about the Rings of Power.

The more you listen to these snippets the more admiration I have for Tolkien. One man created all these characters, created lives for each one, gave them speech, history and a family tree. Its mind boggling. Mind boggling how he found the inner strength to do this and not give in. Even the horses had names and a history.
