Good point! I'll try to think of something appropriate.

The wind is icy cold, the leaves on the ground are crunchy & theres a distinct aroma of central heating already
I hate how the leaves seem to turn brown and fall so fast that I always miss the colors changing. Now I grab a jacket when I leave for work in the morning. Hot tea in the evening before bed. An extra blanket. Sweaters. I love Autumn.

Re: Tales of Home [7]
The storm has blown itself out.
There's a band of blue sky in the distance on the horizon with the promise of occasional sunshine, the shorter deciduous trees have lots of gold and russet in their leaves which will all be gone in 2 weeks, the cranberry leaves have turned to burgundy, but turn back to bright green when the picking machine combs through and exposes the under-leaves.
It's a BEAUTIFUL day for HARVESTING!!!

{{{{ Happy Harvesting Dave! (This does explain however why so many of your fields I have been passing through (and onto) recently seem so empty! I thought you'd gone sailing. But no matter, rest assured I've already started putting in the effort and strain (I should try to get more fiber in my diet- do cigars count?) to begin laying the groundwork for your next harvest Once you mulch it in it will be fine (That'll be your next job) }}}

As I was poodling out with Simi this morning ............
This one would be lovely if it wasn't for the rubbish..........
An ugly, derelict church close by my home.............Something about that lone bird flying off .....

Re: Tales of Home [7]
OK the weather's been getting a little more interesting than I'd expected. Strong winds, power outages, and half a foot of rain is fairly normal, but tornados???? This was 80 miles south of me this morning
http://www.ksdk.com/news/tornado-reportedly-hits-manzanita-on-oregon-coast/336168731
Tomorrow night is supposed to be the worst of this set of the storms, the remnant of a Typhoon that decided to take a road trip to the north Pacific. They're saying we'll get hurricane force winds here at the beach. What do you think Halfy?

That's a monstrously strong low pressure you have rolling across the NW, with a atmospheric river pulled into it off the pacific. I've got a feeling the entire country will experience parts of it over the next few days, though forecasts are saying clear weather. They know not of what they speak...

Re: Tales of Home [7]
Well that wasn't so bad. Only one small shed tipped over. Lot's of debris to pick up tomorrow though, all from the downwind neighbors. Now it's nearly midnight, it's dead calm, there's a clear starry sky and a full moon you could read by. I swear it's brighter tonight than it was at midday in the storm! Think I'll throw another log on the fire and off to bed. It's been a long day.

Re: Tales of Home [7]
Yeah, we were lucky it never quite made landfall, just skirted along the coast. Daylight shows no real damage done so far besides a few trees down, but we've still got 15 acres of cranberries to harvest, and now they're mostly under stormwater. {beautiful fresh fruit that's now going to have to go for cranberry juice ) Gotta go picking now before the Nature plays the next joke on us!

Re: Tales of Home [7]
I feel there's some deep significance to the reflections in the water, carrying over to the hospital trestle, which I'm not quite following.

Re: Tales of Home [7]
i think it makes more sense if you hear the lyrics. it's about winter that comes and about meeting it with all the fancy clothes you once bought long ago. it's about death. but ofcourse with some ekstra depth to it as to how she meets it.
Re: Tales of Home [7]
Now you've explained it it seems like an advert for cancer treatment
