Cruz is currently ahead of Trump by almost double in Kansas (49% to 24.7% with almost half the votes counted). The wind may be changing for the Republicans.

{{{I think ditching the conservative conference thing at the last minute was a big mistake by Trump- but I think he reckoned if he had gone he would have got slaughtered in the Q&A section from a hard line conservative crowd- but its a loss/loss scenario for him, he doesn't look any better by not going either}}}

{{{{Trump has problems with Q&A's wherever he goes. His whole game plan is to never get specific on anything and just play the "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!" message over and over. (Remember the movie "Network"? It foreshadowed Murdock, FOX, reality TV, and I'd say Donald Trump. It's worth re-watching)
Rubio and Trump's willy-waving has thoroughly disgusted many of the so-called evangelicals, so although it's set Trump back a bit, it may have taken Rubio out of play as well. I don't think it's possble to battle for the low ground with Trump and not soil yourself in the process. }}}}

I'm not convinced it's being fooled so much as simply liking them.
The scary thing about Trump isn't so much that people believe he'll do what he says, but that they like what he says in the first place.

{{{Maybe a nominee if he's lucky, but I wouldn't worry too much Halfy. Cruz has pulled within 83 delegates of Trump now, and we've got a lot of Bible Belt primaries in the next couple weeks, so I'm more than half expecting to see him ahead of Trump by the end of the month. But once he gets to the western states I think he's going to have a harder time building momentum. His message only plays to a small segment of voters and he's got the charisma of a day-old carp, so I just can't see him driving anything like the Trump frenzy. This whole passion-play is disturbingly fascinating, isn't it? }}}

Re: US General Election 2016
Honestly, Rubio sounds the least dangerous of them.
Kasich seems at least 'reasonable'.
Hillary sounds the most sound - but so is a plank of wood, which if you stand on it can rear up and smack you in the face.
Sanders is well intentioned, but - well, it's a rat race - politics that is - and Sanders is a bit cheesy (actually, a bit idealistic, but cheesy fits my slur better! ) poor, poor America!!!

Re: US General Election 2016
Domestically a government is only as strong as it's mid-level bureaucrats, and I think we can weather a storm on that score.
• Hillary may be a bit of fraud - known to disparage the domestic help, etc behind the scenes - but at least her act keeps things moving in the right direction.
• Bernie will try to push through a bunch of things that congress won't let him get away with, and will be a no-show on foreign policy.
• Trump will be more of an international relations nightmare, but probably won't hurt trade.
• Cruz will be both a domestic and international relations nightmare. But he's smart enough to know how to manipulate the system: remember that he's the guy who shut down the government more or less single handed, because he knew how to do it and didn't care what people thought. Cold blooded schemer.

OMG I totally agree. Now he IS scary. flaming nutcase evangelical Christian would be even worse than Trump, the only saving grace that Trump has is the fact he isn't a Bible basher. It would be a dark day for women.
Go Trump!!!

Re: US General Election 2016
Trump wins Mississippi and Michigan, Rubio BTFO.
Hillary mops up in Miss while Mich is still too close to call.
The GOP-only primaries in Idaho and Hawaii haven't closed yet.

Politics confuse me I get easily confused. The American politics system confuses me a lot I have enough trouble with the "snakes in suits" in the UK.

Re: US General Election 2016
Good point Blue.
Cruz is worse than Trump even if Trump ups the ante because you know Cruz actually believes what he says. With Trump it's likely he's just saying whatever will get him votes - straight talker my ass.
