A family friend of ours had to put their dog down a few days ago (she had somehow fallen of the bed during the night and badly damaged her spine, she also had a serious un-diagnosed issue with her kidneys) a small jack russell, she was only seven and one of the most kind natured, sweetest dog's I've ever known, she really didn't deserve to go like that, she still acted like a puppy and had years in her yet
Our dog (a Jack Rusell/Dachshund crossbreed, nearing her 10th Birthday) is doing fine but she'll be completely lost without her walking buddy who she practically grew up with , our last dog lived to 17 1/2 (and didn't show his age until the last year or so) so I'm hoping she'll be around for a while yet.
