Petty's Purist LotR Edits [4]

Not sure I have the latest versions, petty, but I think I've still got the book-by-book versions on my old laptop. I'll check tomorrow, hopefully it's still alive

I have books 1-6 in HD - all seem to work fine I don't think you uploaded any new versions after those, if you had I should have had them. And my old laptop is still alive, kudos to ASUS! Just ordered myself an external hard drive for backup, so much stuff I don't want to lose - thanks for reminding me to do that I'll gladly send the edits your way - you'll be needing an HD or a couple of memory sticks, they're just short of 40 gigs all put together.

{{Brilliant stuff Ringo- 40gig! I had forgotten how large the HD files were. And I do believe that was the last version I did of them.
I shall need to order a bigger mem stick!

edit- now I think of it would be quicker and make more sense to order it but have it delivered straight to you- if that's fine by you pm me an address to send it too.

"Skimmed" through a couple of them - still makes me happy to see the Butterbur scene without the "pointy hat" bullshit, thanks for that one The next time I decide it's time to rewatch I'll go for the edits

Long time since I commented here, Hello All!

How do I get my hands on the latest versions??? Eager to see them all these years later!

{{ Hi Shiggy. Unortunately I lost them myself when an old hard drive died and my original Onedrive dropped the stored versions when they changed the file size limits.
I am rather hoping Ringo may still have copies of them however and it may be possible to retrieve them. Stay tuned! }}

I also am interested in hearing about any developments on that front.

{{ I have my TH edits, but I never completed them, in that I split it into two films - An Unexpected Journey at 1hr40ish and The Desolation of Smaug at 2hrs 10 - but only the first film split into two files to keep size down are edited to a passable standard in full HD and it was never quite finalised, mainly the Smaug insertion during the start and the opening and some fight scenes. The second film is only a rough edit and its not in full HD.
I am nevertheless uploading them to my google drive, links to follow, and if there is sufficient interest I may well go back and do the job properly.

And of course if you do watch thoughts, comments, and ideas welcome.

Regards the LotR edits I have book 1- start to Rivendell. And Book 3- opening of Two Towers to Voice of Saruman following only Aragorn and co's storyline.
The Book 1 however was a late version where I moved the Smeagol/Deagol scene to where it comes in the books narrative, during Shadows of the Past- I seem to remember this was not necessairly popular, and does make the opening longer.
The version Ringo had I believe was the original order where that scene came in the Dead Marshes.

I will likewise upload the two parts I have if theres interest.
And hopefully Ringo might be able to provide the other four missing parts. }}

I remember watching them but am not sure if it was done off a feed or from a download. I can't find downloads. I think you had them so you could watch online once, right?

I believe I still have them on memory stick, but I couldn't tell you which versions. Can you tell how to identify them by file name? If I've got what you need and Ringo can't deliver, I'd be happy to snailmail them back to you.

I have a 50gig memstick I got ages ago specifically to send to Ringo to get hold of them, but the problem is my handy, local post office is in fact neither that handy nor that local and when I am there I tend to have forgotten to have it on me - so its never got sent!

But if you can send on what you have Dave and sure I can find an assortment of Who and stuff to fill it back up with for the return trip  


Right Ive uploaded the 1st of the two films that make up TH edits (part 1is  in two parts to keep file size down).
These were never quite finalised so suggestions still welcome, but its less of a rough cut edit than the 2nd half of TH.

edit add- I should mention that TH edits are designed to be viewed before the LotR's edits, without the issue if this is done of PJ's of there being so many callbacks in TH ruining the betetr originals to come in LotR's. }}

I can't download such large files on my internet connection, maybe this week when I'm up in the city. But only if I bring a flash drive big enough 'cause otherwise I can't fit it on my computer.

What? How big are they? You'd think all this fancy computer thingies could give us an estimate before an attempt to download.

Oh I see, well then we shall see.

{{ I just noticed something about my edits, which given the density of content in the firt part of LotR's compared to TH I found interesting.

The first Hobbit film edit it takes 50minutes and 8 seconds from start of film to arrival at Rivendell.
In my edit of FotR it takes 1 hour and 8 minutes.
Given the difference in content its interesting that they are similarly lengthed, though you may have noticed the Balin stooy of the Battle And Arse and Bull (PJ version) is still there in some form- you can skip that bit when watching as I decided when it came to editing the 2nd film to take that out entirely and to use Azog as an unnamed Bolg, leading the Misty Mountains orcs in revenge for the Goblin\Kings death as there is no way to lose him from the end of the 2nd film.
So changes I already know will be coming to part 1 is the loss of that flashback scene and the reinstating of some shots at the eagles scene to establish Azog/Bolg as leading those orcs. }}

We got lives. If you're not working a timesheet type of job it typically takes a week to schedule in something non-work related.

But getting to Rivendell in only 50 minutes? That cuts out a LOT of fat. Sounds worthwhile.

but Who is scheduled and watching it was part of people's schedule. It sounds silly but it makes a difference.
