Re: Tales of Home [6]
Hey, it was Eldo who was going camping, not me.
You're not going to drag me along on some military style winter camping trip are you? (Maybe I should shut up or this will only end up in fanfiction too. )
Joking aside though, might be fun to try at some point. Thank you for the advice.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
I love the camp fire Blue posted up & Id certainly give camping in the snow a go, Ive done that other times of the year but not in winter. I do like sitting in my little garden in the snow ( when it snows ) dressing gown, wellies & a hot cup of tea, then shut your eyes, inhale the scent of snow & foliage etc & enjoy. Uhuh,

You did? Cool. I think -34 is pushing it though. And it doesn't help that Ringos camping experience probably was after an extended march on some military training effort.
Happy 3000th, by the way.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
One of the coolest things I saw while cold weather camping is the static electricity from my sleeping bag. Big flashes like fireflies, took me a while to figure out what was happening.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
My mom and I went to a corn maze a couple days ago and we took some phone photos. The maze is on a farm about 15 minutes from her house that also does hay rides and pumpkin picking (though we didn't do either this year), and we've gone there for Halloween stuff for about a decade now.
Re: Tales of Home [6]
Oh I love happy pics like this !! Puts you in such a good mood ! We had lovely weather like that pic today, which is very rare as we are nearly into November & its usually raining, cold & windy
That maze looks A-maze-ing ( couldnt resist ! sorry ! )

Nice pics Eldo. That must be one of the few places in the world you can genuinely say you once got lost wandering around a horses nether regions!

It's an actual maze?
Oh, and very nice, of course.

Is that a Scottish saying?

Re: Tales of Home [6]
Thanks guys.
Uh huh. On the map in the first picture, the lines represent the paths through the corn. There's three and a half miles of path all told, although split up into three separate mazes based on difficulty/length. The goal in the maze is to find all of the stations hidden in it and use the different shaped hole-punches to mark your card (which I'm holding in the second pic) to show you visited each of them. It's actually fairly easy to get lost in there; the corn was about 8-10 feet high and grows pretty thick, though a lot of people cheat by cutting through the corn if they can see a nearby path.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
Lance: wow! When you said you were taking pictures of poppies I had no concept of why this was on par with visiting South America.
Eldo: That's the most complex corn maze I've seen. It needs a "making of" documentary.

A bit like a corny (do you have that word?) Triwizard Tournament.

Yes, that's certainly a fair amount of poppies.
And very nice, of course

Re: Tales of Home [6]
In google maps they have a previous incarnation of the map, a dragon it seems. (rotate 90 degrees). The apple map version is the wrong season.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
I am sure you can all tell those poppies arent real. You could have bought one if you were quick enough but all sold out now.
Re: Tales of Home [6]
Corn is real, though.

And whether they be real or not, that's certainly a lot of poppies.
