I just saw a large black bear on the back of my bog yesterday morning. He was eating the old cranberries that had floated up onto the bank over the winter, left over from last fall.

It's still a couple weeks before the first salmonberries are ripe (they're the first berries of the season), so until then the bears are making do with whatever they can find.

In his human form, PJ has mucked about with his looks & plastered weird sprouts of hair as if to hint that any second now, watch out folks, you'll have a big, black, Grizzly bear standing before you !........... where ?...... here?......or.......here ? No......not seeing anything that looks like a bear ??    but there's a strange "Sonic the Hedgehog" wanna-be mooching about, think hes lost, .... "oye ! Sonic !...dressing rooms over there if you wanna get changed " sheesh, these guys

can somebody good at maths tell me what  0.5 %  means. is it 50% or half the of the total amount? no clue.

If you've got a 200 page book and you read 1 page, then you've read 0.5% of that book.

You know what 1% is, right? 0.5% is half of 1%.

Or to carry Ringdrotten's example further, 0.5% of a 100 page book is half a page.

so if I have to pay for example £4000 fees to Uni and they give me 0.5 in a scholarship its like 5% off? help!   

0.5% of £4000 is 4000 x 0.005 = £20.

Whereas 5% of £4000 would equal £200

I thought 0.05% of 100 was 50?

0.05% of 100 is 5.
50% of 100 is 50.

I asked the department and they said it means a 50% reduction on the fees. I wish they had just put that in the beginning.

I think you mean that 0.05 * 100 = 5%

0.05% of 100 is considerably less than 1.
