Re: Just...................whatever [4]
When they put 0.5 without any percentage, that means 1/2 (or 50%).
Given your confusion I recommend not introducing percentages unless somebody else did first. Convert decimals to fractions instead.

All I know is that 0.5% of a buckie is a short measure and somebody is looking to have my boot rammed up their backside

Re: Just...................whatever [4]
I know... I am going in January and will then stay gone for 3 months.
Re: Just...................whatever [4]
Long range planning.
Do NOT drink the water. After I was in Peru for over a week, on the last night before flying out early in the morning, I was in the airport hotel. My clean water bottle had run dry and I had a raging thirst about 3 in the morning. I thought 'this is a nice hotel right next to an international airport, I've surely ingested some local bacteria over the last week and have adjusted to it, how bad can it be?' So I went to the bathroom and swished water through my parched mouth, and maybe swallowed a tablespoon or two.
By the time I got home I was sick as a dog with a raging fever and running squirts, and couldn't work for 3 days.
Do NOT drink the water!

Re: Just...................whatever [4]
wow... i drink riverwater all the time.. i even think that that's what we have in our tap, a bit cleaned, but still "surface"-water....
Re: Just...................whatever [4]
Depends on where you are, and whether your body has had time to adjust.
Stream water off the mountains in less populated areas is usually good, but not everywhere. River water has usually too many sources of contamination. You're in a clean country, Norc.

Re: Just...................whatever [4]
not necessarily. there is a lot of animals here. like reindeers and mice and shit, and they can spread deceases and shit in the water.
Re: Just...................whatever [4]
That pales in comparison to a sewer. Plus sewers carry organisms adapted to the human body.

Re: Just...................whatever [4]
basically you dont know whats in a river, best not to risk it. If its a spring coming directly out the ground its probably safer. maybe.

Re: Just...................whatever [4]
I have had spring water when out in mountains before.
Issue is always local bacteria that locals have built up resistance/tolerance to. I would always drink bottled or boiled water. 3 months in India taught me that.

Re: Just...................whatever [4]
Water from rivers is fine in my experience too, but if I went to another country I'd stick to bottled water as well.
