I noticed that too. But really that was a pretty brilliant episode.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
I just want to remind you guys that GoT is basically a medieval soap opera with slightly more sex and violence and with an element of fantasy (e.g dragons and magic and shit)
Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
The guy who writes the books is kinda sick in the head, judging from what I see in the TV show.

He's not quite so sick as true to the reality of the period he emulates. Remember that all you had to do is accuse someone of witchcraft and she may find herself trying to snatch stones out of a deep pot of boiling water. If found guilty of treason, you could publicly have your intestines pulled out and burned in front of you, and that was just to remind you to abandon all hope of making it alive through the tortures that followed.
So yeah, I wouldn't specifically blame GRRM, except for recognizing our fascination with this stuff.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
I just have my limits. Detest the way the women are treated. And all the Theon stuff was sickeningly gratuitist. And now Sansa! Admittedly, I should have objected long before now - but that was the last straw for me. I suspect GRRM will be outed as a paedophile or worse before long. Just saying...

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
Much of what you just named was not in the books (no castration, Sansa never met Theon and Ramsay). The show creators took the basic themes and ran with them a bit too far - even GRRM has complained in an off handed way. And he's not the only one of course.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
just one question. why in Sansa's rape scene did it seem like Theon was the victim? also.. soemone said that the rape of Cercei by Jaime at Joffrey's body, wasn't really a rape in the book? why overuse rape like that?
Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
Theon feels bad watching his old foster sister get raped, natch. His whole manhood and will has been sapped so he can't do a thing about it. But in the books Sansa is never even there. Neither did the rape of Cersei by Jamie happen, no physical contact at all basically. He was a gimp and she wasn't interested.
I wish they'd show Jamie wandering through the Riverlands basically being the diplomat, it makes him a very appealing character after all he's been through.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
I only just got a chance to watch episode 7 yesterday due to my work schedule this week and being really tired, so I don't have as much to say as normal. It was one of the better episodes of the season so far, but that's a pretty low bar. I'm curious to see how Tyrion and Dany interact since I've been waiting for such a scene for years (though I'm more interested in how it will play out in the books).

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
Going back an episode now (since number 8 was just on), but where the bloody hell has Ghost been? He just seemed to turn up for a very helpful cameo when they couldn't think of how to get Sam out of his quandry and now has disappeared again.
Also... I can't remember which direwolves are left now.... Nymeria? Does Bran or Rickon still have one left... T.V. series I mean here (not that I can remember in the books now either)

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
I know Lady and Grey Wind are both dead. I don't think Nymeria has appeared since S1 though, and they got rid of Arya's wolf dreams. I'm pretty sure Summer and Shaggydog are still with Bran and Rickon respectively though.
Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
where is Nymeria in the books?

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
The white wolf raced through a black wood, beneath a pale cliff as tall as the sky. The moon ran with him, slipping through a tangle of bare branches overhead, across the starry sky.
“Snow,” the moon murmured. The wolf made no answer. Snow crunched beneath his paws. The wind sighed through the trees.
Far off, he could hear his packmates calling to him, like to like. They were hunting too. A wild rain lashed down upon his black brother as he tore at the flesh of an enormous goat, washing the blood from his side where the goat’s long horn had raked him. In another place, his little sister lifted her head to sing to the moon, and a hundred small grey cousins broke off their hunt to sing with her. The hills were warmer where they were, and full of food. Many a night his sister’s pack gorged on the flesh of sheep and cows and horses, the prey of men, and sometimes even on the flesh of man himself.
“Snow,” the moon called down again, cackling. The white wolf padded along the man trail beneath the icy cliff. The taste of blood was on his tongue, and his ears rang to the song of the hundred cousins. Once they had been six, five whimpering blind in the snow beside their dead mother, sucking cool milk from her hard dead nipples whilst he crawled off alone. Four remained … and one the white wolf could no longer sense.
“Snow,” the moon insisted.
The white wolf ran from it, racing toward the cave of night where the sun had hidden, his breath frosting in the air. On starless nights the great cliff was as black as stone, a darkness towering high above the wide world, but when the moon came out it shimmered pale and icy as a frozen stream. The wolf’s pelt was thick and shaggy, but when the wind blew along the ice no fur could keep the chill out. On the other side the wind was colder still, the wolf sensed. That was where his brother was, the grey brother who smelled of summer.
“Snow.” An icicle tumbled from a branch. The white wolf turned and bared his teeth. “Snow!” His fur rose bristling, as the woods dissolved around him. “Snow, snow, snow!” He heard the beat of wings. Through the gloom a raven flew.
It landed on Jon Snow’s chest with a thump and a scrabbling of claws. “SNOW!” it screamed into his face.

I miss the Direwolves, they seem to have been sidelined this season. (Even counting Ghost miraculous to the rescue appearance.)
