Re: Future releases [2]
Haven't seen Marty's more recent films like Wolf of Wallstreet, or Gangs of New York, from what I hear they're slightly over the top, but this looks great imo.

I mean, it'd be hard for a director like this to beat Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, or Raging Bull, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for that. But I guess those pictures speak to me a lot in way I've never seen in his movies. I think this one will truly stand out on it's own right, like the Jesus movie he did.

Re: Future releases [2]
The Wolf of Wall Street was a great film. This one looks really interesting as well.
Re: Future releases [2]
The Wolf of Wall Street seemed far too crude for its own good. Like, indulgently so. Like when you're watching some tv show and to be edgy it needs to show the main character's naughty bits at least twice per episode in all their... glory.

Re: Future releases [2]
Independence Day was just pure stupid fun. If they try to make it meaningful it will backfire.

Re: Future releases [2]
I loathed it- way too jingoistic, in fact its all jingoistic, and as to the resolution and how its done, oh dear, yes you can see it as a modern parallel to Wells conclusion, but Wells was making lots of broader points - about the military effect of the British Empire with his huge modern artillery on other less technologically developed cultures- well sort of he seemed to think the Tasmanians were another species of human, but nevertheless it was their extinction at the hands of Empire that sparked him off, and he was also making topical scientific theories like Darwinsim and the new discoveries in microbacteria palatable to the masses by incorporating them into an exciting story, as well as commentaries on social class, religion ect- independence day had- 'America is great and everyone else sucks- did you see our President save the world in that fighter jet by the way?'

Re: Future releases [2]
Not that I expect much after Into Darkness, but the new ST trailer was pretty good. Will definitely wait for reviews on the film itself. I liked the "Sabotage" scene in ST '09 so it was fun to hear the song again in this context.
Re: Future releases [2]
The only thing I liked about Independence Day was Jeff Goldblum, I couldnt stand the American swagger, Bill Pullman was no way by the stretch of the imagination a USA President. There was unnecessary cheese throughout but, it was fun if you didnt take it too seriously. This 2nd step out is looking like its going the same sicky way.
Star Trek ? fun if it wasnt Star Trek,
Alice ? Its nothing like the book, the 1st one was hardly like the book but, I loved it ! & I shall no doubt love this one. Deppy boy & Tim Burton are so good together

Re: Future releases [2]
Alice is the best film I have ever seen in 3D it really lent itself perfectly to the 3D effects, and was very magical looking I was very impressed specially the Cheshire cat. I loved it too!
as for Independence day, I didn't give a monkeys about the gung-ho aspect, that was part of its charm and I didn't take it at all seriously. it was just good old fashioned over the top entertainment. A bit of swag never hurt anyone.

Re: Future releases [2]
No love for Will Smith in Independence Day?
Yeah the sequel looks funk. And not good funk.
And speaking of sequels, I don't see how this "Through the Looking Glass" has anything to do with the correlative book and only the most tenuous connection with the first movie!
Star Trek: Beyond looked potentially enjoyable.

There ain't nothing right about that if you try to call it Star Trek.

Re: Future releases [2]
Oh my gosh, I know this is the way of the world, but can't we get an actor other than Eddie Redmayne in a British role?
The Legend of Tarzan came up after that trailer. Is it just me or are versions of an older story that are self-aware just very very annoying?
And now this Batman vs. Superman trailer. Ugh, everything is making me crabbit!

Oh no ! anybody but her !! Im sorry, I cant stand JK fooking Rowling !! Often I think when "cinema" hits a desert it returns to Golden Oldies & revamps them. Sometimes it works. Me, Id like to see the fooking end to things that were started, like Eragon, The Golden Compass, amongst others !

Re: Future releases [2]
The Golden Compass was an enormous disappointment and a missed opportunity. They made such a stink about it being scripted by Tom Stoppard which they didn't use in the end, the fools.
