Any of you Fjordians know these folk? The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc- players from Shetland and Norway combining traditional styles and instruments- they are playing at a music festival here-

Oh, but you misunderstand me Ringo. Having spent a bit of time telling Norc she's awesome, the last thing I mind is someone else telling her she's great as well.

And you might underestimate me a little as well. I'll just use that post as an excuse to give you a compliment.

I don't think I've heard of them Petty, but the mix of the instruments and musical traditions sound interesting.

Good find on that music thing, Petty. I think it's interesting that they mix the viola, violin and hardingfele and the folk music styles of Sweeden, Norway and Shetland.

Strangely, the only real thing I could find about them on Google was articles from a school tour they did in the north of Norway. But I'm guess they didn't come by Tromsø then.

Re-: The Nordic Fiddlers.....I like the 1st one as it reminds me of summer & "get-togethers" with your friends & family. The 2nd one sounds like it tells a story ?

why? because i hadn't heard about it? honestly, it isn't that small a city i have heard about every single concert that is here yes, i am offended. and now stop mentioning tromsø, i don't want the whole fucking world knowing where i live.

No. All I was trying to say was that despite them being on a school tour they obviously didn't play at yours. as you didn't recognize them. I could have, should have really, said your school.

I've kind of just done what I did at the beggining and not altered anything anyone else didn't pull me up on. And the only thing I think anyone has pulled me up on is talking too much about snow.    

I do get where you're coming from. I have enjoyed talking a bit about it though, as I was shamefully unknowledgable about it before we "met". And you've given me rather a nice impression.  

I was going to share this on the Music thread, but I think perhaps it's most interesting to you other fjordlandians. This is the friends of mine I was talking about who won Årets Urørt in 2010(?). They just released a new album last autumn, so this is the single.

The music video is a bit weird, but I quite like the song.

Given that you've posted tourist videos from the town that is not to be mentioned, you can understand why most people wouldn't know about this 'unwritten rule'. Might make more sense if you had never mentioned it publicly...

yes, Halfy, but I would like to be the one bringing it up, if u get what i mean.

i am not too bothered with about it though, i just don't want to talk about my town everytime i am on here, i might stumble across someone who suddenly knows who i am O_O yes, i live in an amazing town and i might brag about it sometimes, but it's not that special that i want to bring it up every time.

it may sound like i am annoyed or something, i am not, i just think we shouldn't bring up people's hometowns without themselves bringing it up. or at least that's how i feel about it. although there is no secret (apparently) where i live, i'de like to have some control over that information. everyone els here lives in pretty large cities i guess, or not who knows, but my town is not big and i find it kinda scary. ok.
