Well, I'm really happy you guys liked it. I think it's great for showing of a different side to that kind of music than the first video as well.
Halfwise; I guess they would call it gipsy jazz or Django Reinhardt jazz themselves. And yes Stephane Grapelli played violin in Django Reinhardts band Hot Club de France.
Norc; France is pretty spot on. I think that kind of music is really big in France, Belgium and Holland. I'm certainly very happy if I've introduced you to something new. Who knows. Maybe you'll get inspired and turn out to be Fjordlandias next great jazz violinist or jazz viola player.
You'e brought me untold problems with that question though, Halfwise. :lol:As I've promised to tell Norc twice already, just not in public, and I've not gotten around to it.
I think I've said jazz guitarist already, so I'll keep it at that in public.

that... that is quite accurate xD
u know what i call it when singers (justin bieber) "improvises" with singing (doing all sorts of ups and downs)... stemme-ronking .. aka. what u said the jazz players do.. (i didn't find a good translation )

Yeah, my brother.

I certainly didn't mean for it to come across as that.
Takes foot out of mouth.

That's great to hear. Though it's not really something I would be listening to a lot either if my brother wasn't playing it. Happy accident I guess.

Yeah, I know.
I just felt a bit embarrased as I said I would, twice.

It can certainly be like that.
There is a line to walk I agree, where improvisation turns to just showing of your skill. Though there's certainly some classical pieces like that as well, that were just written to show of the players proficiency. And I would say certain types of rock guitar playing is much worse at this than jazz.
Still can't think of a name for this thing. Though, come to think of it, that might turn out quite well if I can think of one by... Not saying anything more.

Cool vid by the way, blue I actually like jazz a lot, but I'm more into the 20's-30's kind, the slow, easy kind with saxophones Which reminds me of this awesome guy

Thank you Ringo. I'm glad you liked it. I shouldn't really be taking any plaudits though.
They did play with a saxophonist and clarinetist called Lars Frank at the first concert of the series. And they also shared a slower tune from an earlier concert, don't know if you saw it. Here it is again:
Great video by the way.

Exactly. I guess theres a point in all types of music where it just turns into showing off.
I'd be ready to accept that that moment might occour earlier in jazz however.

Re: Fjordlandia Viking bar & kaffistove, main str. 221B, Needlehole [2]
So I had this music thing I talked about sharing, and I finally got it up online.
https://soundcloud.com/ificouldonlyremember
I seem to have chosen a release date where everyone, not surprisingly, is off doing their own thing, but I wanted to get it up this year at least.
I was planning on recording something specific, but I couldn't really get it to work. So I recorded two things I wrote over Christmas instead.
Their both a bit throwaway in nature and the takes could probably be improved upon and they have some issues, but I enjoy them. And the thought of going back and replicating the spontanaity of the original recordings isn't very appealing at the moment. Maybe I'll get around to it.
Still couldn't think of a name, so ended up just choosing one a bit random.
Oh, and I'll try to put up the violin thing too.

Nice songs, Blue, especially the first one. Sadly, though, for me the first seems unfinished, and the second barely half done. Just saying, you know.

Re: Fjordlandia Viking bar & kaffistove, main str. 221B, Needlehole [2]
Thank you Azriel. What nice things to say.
Orwell; Yeah, the first one still has a few issues to sort out. But I wanted to get something up in 2013 and I still find it enjoyable to listen too so I put it up as it was. I do intend to do a bit more work on it though.
The second one was written that way very intentionally, as I quite like songs that go like that.
Still, I'm glad to hear you thought the first one had potential.

Well, I'm glad you liked it. (And at 7.15 in the morning at that. )
I do have a band, but they mostly cherry pick the songs of mine they want to use. This was just me with two things I wrote/recorded over Christmas.

The violin thing is a bit embarrasing , but I'll put it up.
I'm not all that good, but it's fun.
Come to think of it I might go and play some violin right now.

IT WAS AMAZING! I HAD A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE! the pictures doesn't do it justice at all! i had to have a long exposure time and manual focus BUT OMG HOW IT MOVED! IT WAS GREEN AND PURPLE (that's rare because those gases in the atmosphere that emit purple light are further down) IT DANCED REALLY FAST AND NO KIDDING IT WAS JUST LIKE THOSE RIDICOLOUS TOURIST COMMERCIAL I POSTED! I'm no expert --- just opinionated!
Bluebottle wrote:The second one was written that way very intentionally, as I quite like songs that go like that.
You are a Lawyer, of course, and like things in black and white --- without too much room for imagination... Go back, Sir - and do MORE with it! {{{Lazy younger generation! }}}
Bluebottle wrote: Still, I'm glad to hear you thought the first one had potential.
It's closer to 'completion' than 'potential'- if you know what I mean. I could offer a couple of suggestions that might (might!) help finesse it if you like? Which is not to say you have to take them on board or in any way agree with them. Others here may love it like it is and be wondering what that aging pompous old tit in Ozhobbistan is going on about too. In fact, now as I come to think, they may always think that? For all that, I think it is not far off being (in my arrogant opinion) a really good song -- with a bit more work and a little less laziness. Come on! You're a lawyer. You can't surely do a degree and be lazy too! {{{Or can you? }}}
At the risk of seeming a know-it-all {{{ }}}, this is the trouble with artists (and it may be a confidence thing - and God don't I know!) but talented people often don't get anywhere because they don't roll their sleeves up and do the hard stuff. Remember that thing about 5% inspiration and 95% perspiration. Bullshit! It's 99% perspiration if you want to succeed. {{{One Hit Wonder-folk, I guess, can fluke it sometimes}}}. Yeah, yeah, yeah - some artists say, 'But I won't sell out my art." Well, then don't bother other people with your shit if that's the case. Disappear up your own arse, you dolt! And keep your shit in your bedroom, or up your arse where it belongs.
{{{I'm not saying your stuff's shit btw, far from it --- it's just it needs finessing and finishing in my opinion - especially song two. }}}
Apologies for ranting, but I have a thing about talent being wasted because a Talent doesn't go harder and sits around expecting the world to come and make a star of her/him. I know some are truly pure in their art. They are usually the ones who are discovered after they are dead. And that's fine, I respect that. But if one wants anyone to hear their poems or songs, or see their sculptures and paintings, then accept that to become known and respected and beloved requires hard work. Even Monet would tell you that.
