Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
some of the fans are batshit-crazy and i feel sorry for Benedict who has to be polite and all that.. can't be easy at times.
Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
I wonder where old Bendy Cabbagepatch would be now if he had accepted the Title Role in Dr Who, I certainly don't believe it would have lead to as much exposure in Hollywood as Sherlock did.
I'm keeping totally clear of ALL news relating to Series 3, want to be totally surprised.

yepp, this thread will be spoiler free Malick
i don't think he was ever offered the role of the doctor, i think that was mainly speculation and wish thinking.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
I'm not sure if he was directly offered it, but I do know his name was thrown around a bit (Sherlock and Dr Who Series 5 were doing casting calls at similar times-Matt Smith auditioned for Watson before being asked to do one for Dr Who), and Cumberbatch actually ruled himself out of competition after discussing it with 10th Doctor David Tennant.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
He is too obvious a casting as the Doctor, and frankly too young to be lumbered with the role, I can't see Matt Smith doing much in Hollywood.
CucumberThatch on the other hand has been very lucky, and he deserves it. When is Sherlock back anyway? I heard its New Years Day in the UK, but I'm not sure...

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
I'm not very famialr with Ryan Gosling-I was forced to watch The Notebook (slept through it mostly) and I know he spent six months becoming a lardarse in prep for The Lovely Bones, only to be fired by Jackson shortly before filming, but he isn't really a 'big' name?
Tennant might have just as much of a chance with Broadchurch USA.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
Gosling has a really big, high-profile year in 2011. Probably the highlight of that year in his filmography was Drive. He was great in that movie (screw anyone who says it's just people staring at each other).

Don't really see him as Sherlock Holmes.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
Sitting and reading criminal law all day can get a bit depressing, so I had a look to see if anyone had had a look at Sherlock from a criminal law perspective online. And I found this about the possibility of persecuting Moriarty in the courts which was a bit interesting:
http://thenorwoodbuilder.tumblr.com/post/40427770957/the-elusive-moriarty-a-lawyers-perspective-beware
(It's a bit long, but not very technical from a legal point of view if anyone was worried.)
The person in question is wrong on point one. A national state does have jurisdiction over it's own citizens actions abroad. Though they might not have had it when Conan Doyle wrote the book.

i'll try and avoid spoilers now, but there is an interactive trailer with lots of little clips

Yeah spoilers. I think the problem is people think it doesn't matter too much, no one cares that much. But when you're really into something, it certainly matters. People who aren't just aren't good at realising it. Though they probably complain themselves when something they look forward to get spoiled.

haha.. yeah.. i'll just wait though in the trailer he mentions that he'll be surprising john, "maybe pop out of a cake" also there is a clip where he mentions the moustache
Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
The cake thing sounds interesting.
Though what ideas it would give the fanart drawers I don't dare think about.

Great!
Though judging by some of the fanart the amount of clothes might be disproportionate.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
UK PM David Cameron has been in China cutting deals- but the question itt seems most pressing on the minds of the Chiese people, the most requested question put forward to be asked was- "Can you speed up the production of Sherlock?"
Cameron replied- "Well I know that Benedict is hugely popular in China, he’s a big star. Sadly I can’t tell them what to do as it’s an independent company, but I know how popular Sherlock Holmes is and the modern adaptation is a brilliant adaptation. Of course people can always go back and read the original Conan Doyle stories which are wonderful , but I will do everything I can to say that people in China want more of Sherlock Holmes and more of the modern version."
This sort of thing tells me there is hope for humanity yet, if we just get rid of the people who rule in all our countries and just leave the people to get on with each other and share interests.
